  The day we take R and D seriously, that day will be the beginning of our collective transition from naivety to smart nation full of promise and a proper future for all citizens and foreigners living within our borders. We as Black people are just lazy and see STI as a waste of our resources, hence our immense poverty, although we sit on 3/4 of the world's resources. ( referring to entire Africa) it's a travesty and a massive shame.

  The mind set of blacks are curse and and blacks are inferior and cannot do anything is our problem.Blacks has put their trust and faith in whiteman that they are the only people who are capable of doing better things and black man does it and even it is quality and better that what whiteman has done they will patronize Whitman product and abandon the local product.Our presidents were idiots and fools from Jerry John Rawlings to Mahama regarded themselves as inferior being who can't think.Those idiots thinks investing in research is a waste of money but because they are ignorant and don't want to develop don't invest in research but steal the money and give it to whiteman to do research and develop his country.Ghana leaders are fools and just look at the world brilliant inventors Apostle Safo and Asidu Abudu and not help and their know-who is be coming waste and fool Mahama will dole $300 million and $4 million Momodu Dele to talk nonsense and this offend Kwasi Pratt Jr and he said it is only Ghana that the president pay people to just insult and not to think.I have advice our useless president to support both private and state research institutions but the ignorant president dole our the money to insult.

  Nuce article but researchers in Ghana and other African countries don't use research funds for research. They spend a higher majority and keep reinventing the wheel. In the countries that were cited (USA et al), Professors hire students as research assistants to mentor them and also make time for writing winning research proposals. Most of our Professors in Ghana have benefitted from this. Ghanain professors however, "look for opportunities" for graduates for younger ones and never spend any time and research funds on mentorship. The researchers have failed the nation and international organizations that fund original ground breaking research. No one will waste money reinventing the wheel.
  
  Everybody blames government. Most of those research funds for other countries are not coming from the government. Researchers write competitive proposals and win from companies and organizations such as WHO, ILO, NSF etc. Researchers need to work harder to match their colleagues in other countries and stop complaining too much.
