In the environment like Ghana's where the judicial systems and courts are so corrupt,instituting death penalty can be a disaster. In other words, a judicial system where judges and lawyers accept bribes rampantly, and ignore the real and fair justice only the poor and the innocent citizens will be wrongfully executed before the truth can come out. I totally and 100% disagree with any push for bring death penalty into Ghana.I agree with the Amnesty's calls for no to death penalty in most African countries where the public institutions are so corrupt in every angle.The justice systems cannot convincingly give a fair trials and can be precise in carrying out the fair judgments. Having said that, there should be severe punishments for citizens who commit capital crimes. Again, Ghana police force should be trained to be more turf with criminals.The sad thing as Ghanaians residing in advanced countries often hear is that, the Ghana police force cannot even challenge the local gangsters and criminals such as Land guards and armed robbers. Why will a nation wait until innocent citizens are murdered or killed then looking for some equal forms of punishment for the criminals? The solution may be that the Ghana Police personnel should be equipped to be capable and efficient enough to prevent crimes from happening in the first place.

That said, the death penalty should be used including politicians who steal from the treasury. Putting people in jail is just a pat in the back and it is not enough to deter any crime. Our population is large enough that we should try as much as we can to eliminate those who pose a threat our serene atmosphere.

Why should this Kombian guy go to jail and be fed? He killed two police officers and that is a recipe for the death penalty.
