COUNTING OF SPECIAL VOTING ON SAME DAY
The framers of the Constitution even though did not anticipate special voting however they have provided the broad framework for dealing with the ballots after voting. Article 49(2) prescribes that counting should be done and recorded at the polling station in the presence of the candidates or their representatives. Special voting has been carved from general voting and should not be clothed differently from what has been provided by the supreme law f the land. In mathematics one can define the general elections as the Universal set whiles the special voting as a sub set. The characteristics of the sub set (special voting) should be the same as the Universal set (general election). The conduct of the special voting should not flout or deviate from Article 49(2).
We are in a country where there is so much suspicion regarding the posture of the EC creating the grounds that it is not trustworthy. This has caused many people to be calling for transparency in the conduct of the elections. Where will these ballot boxes seat for the next six days awaiting the holding of the general elections before the papers are counted in the presence of the candidates or their agents? Other state institutions in the same situation as the EC can neither be trusted since many of these appear to be doing the bidding of the President who is a contestant in the elections. Who can guarantee the security and sanctity of these ballot boxes? It is this mistrust which has compelled the court action otherwise it does not make any difference if the ballots are counted on the day of the general election.
We should not be afraid to depart from the old ways of doing things if it is realized they do not conform to the available laws. The democracy we are practicing is a journey we are traversing and this can be perfected if we are able to confront the wrongs and correct them in line with the laws we have enacted to regulate our actions.
Voting is by secret ballot so it does not implicate anybody in particular when a particular candidate wins at a polling station or constituency. After all are elections not meant to be won and lost? The recent US election has shown that until the whole ballots are counted there is no winner. Hillary was leading at a point and was later overtaken by Donald Trump.
I wish to use this platform to say that those qualified for the special voting should be on the Register and should be properly verified on the day of voting. The list should be made available to the parties for them to cross check with the register in their possession to convince them that these are not people brought from somewhere to vote for some candidate. The names of the special voting should be excluded from the general election to avoid repetition or duplication.
I also want to advise the polling agents for the NPP and the candidate’s representative to ensure that they are vigilant, ensure that those sorting the papers don’t have ink on their hands to render the ballots in favour of our flag bearer as spoilt. They should ensure the sorting is done to reflect each contestant’s papers are not given to another contestant. For this reason I will advise that while one person concentrates on the ballot papers for our flag bearer the other concentrates on the ballot papers going to the contestants especially the NDC to ensure that they are not given ballot belonging to another contestant.
I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate the Supreme Court for their wisdom in dealing with the suspended presidential aspirants. This is what I call Divine Wisdom, the type of wisdom from God. Democracy no matter how imperfect is the best system of government to be pursued by any progressive society. It is relatively expensive for the ordinary man on the street to seek justice through the legal system it is still the best if our Justices will be fair minded and just. The situation where Judges are bribed to dispense justice wrongly is rather unfortunate. This in my view has been created by the politicians of our country who have failed to manage the resources of the state to create wealth for everyone. If everyone is doing well including the Justices of our courts incidences of bribe will be minimal. These politicians have misallocated resources which are meant for development through corruption leaving the people in poverty.
I see myself as having been called to do a particular job in this elections for that matter God has put a hold on my job so I have not been engaged for the past one year. Until this job is finished I will not rest.

THE EC AGENDA TO RIG ELECTIONS WILL BE DIFFICULT IN DEED
Do people appreciate the reason some of us hold the view that the EC is up to rig the elections in favour of the President and NDC? The interview the EC gave to the BBC exposes her. I quote Ghanaweb in the following statement, ‘’The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei has hinted that she may stop the declaration of the results of the forthcoming presidential elections and call for a recount if the results were to be too close’’. When in the history of our elections has the EC called for recounting when result is very close? The Constitution has provided the process by which a president-elect can be determined. It is dawning on the EC and the NDC that the upcoming elections will not go in the way of the ruling party. The EC is trying to find a window to rig the elections for the President and the NDC. The EC chair was given the position to help the President and the NDC to stay in power whether it has been decided by the people or otherwise. But if the EC likes it or not the elections cannot be rigged for any party aside what the Ghanaian people have decided. The money and the promises she has received from the President should be returned to free her spirit. If she is bent on doing the unthinkable, God will expose her and she may not live to see the end of her assigned time on this earth. There is nothing bigger than God and even the devil who is masterminding all these cannot stand God. The power wielded by the devil has been allowed by the Almighty God. For the President, the spiritual fortification he has received is nothing before Him and he will be disgraced before he leaves office.
Nobody can vouch for the sanctity of the ballot papers after they have left the polling stations into the custody of the EC or the Police Service. These are state institutions who should be aboard but their conduct over the years do not convince the average Ghanaian of their neutrality. It has been emphasized by all and in particular by the Supreme Court (SC) that elections are won at the polling stations so the EC cannot restate this generally accepted position by all Ghanaians. Recounting should and must be done in the presence of the sovereign people of Ghana (voters). Is the EC saying that they can count the ballot papers better than all those allowed by the Constitution? Anything contrary to TRANSPARENCY in this election will not be allowed. As long as the SU has hinted that elections are won at the polling stations all the parties should be ready to protect the ballots at the polling stations if it will cost them their lives. The mistakes of the past will not be repeated and I want to alert the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY to begin to prepare a place for the President and some of his followers as we go into the elections. Any single blood that drops on our soil should be accounted for and I will do it even if everybody fails to do that. The whole Ghana will know me after this election.
I wish to use this opportunity to encourage the NPP in particular to marshal every arsenal in terms of the law and to be proactive since it has been amply demonstrated by the EC and the President they will not relinquish power to the will of the Ghanaian people. I am preparing to physically join them. My difficulty is my bed-ridden mother who needs my utmost attention, having lost my only two senior brothers and father and has been left alone with her.
The results of the election from the polling station to the district, to the region and to the EC headquarters should have an audit trail. Whether there are summation in the process should not be a difficult for any person who is anti-mathematics to do. Whether the EC likes it or not the result will be public information as long as the parties are involved. The EC says the media should not announce the result; they should be clear on which result they are referring to. I have no doubt the NPP will have a central point to collate the results from the polling station, from the district up to the regional level to facilitate reconciliation. The results from all these destinations will enable the party to agree or disagree with the final results from the EC. They should keep audit trail of these results and to ensure that they keep both soft and hard copies at any point. They should regard these results as security documents and should create multiple destinations for these because I can anticipate act of violence on a targeted office. I believe the media houses will also do their in house arrangements to have the results.
I am extremely happy a lawyer has posed some questions to the EC regarding the printing of the ballots and other election information which the EC has to provide, failure will compel the lawyer to go to court. The Constitution under the rights and freedoms guaranteed gives the right to Ghanaians to get information of this nature. The EC cannot use the public purse and arrogate to itself information which the Ghanaian should know. Earlier in the year I offered some suggestions regarding the ballot papers which I know the EC will ignore because it has its own agenda.
We need to demand value for money for the award of this contract. Nobody is beyond scrutiny as long as it relates to public funds. Even if it is donor funded, the funds belong to the state and not anybody.
The Supreme Court has shown that they are more than prepared to aid the system to enable the country vote on the agreed date. I believe they will open their doors on the day of elections and thereafter to intervene if there is a matter that will have impact on the person who wins the elections. This is the type of country we all want to build and I want to encourage all well meaning people in the world to assist Ghana to achieve justice which was chosen as part of the country’s emblem by our fore bearers.
The saying that action speaks louder than words is a truism and should never be discounted. We have all been witnesses to the EC trumpeting that the Commission is not superman to rig elections for any political party. It claimed it is committed to free and fair election by the claim it has increased the number of polling stations and provided additional BVD machine to each polling stations. These are not what will prevent rigging of the elections. I have maintained like we are all witnessing that rigging will be done through voters register, processes and the laws regulating the elections. Why is the EC refusing to give copies of the register to the NPP? I will advise the NPP to ensure that they compare the hard copy of the register to the soft copy. They should also go ahead to compare their register with at least two political parties in the elections to ascertain they are the same. I will not be surprised that the register given to the NDC is different from the rest. The NPP should also do a comparative analysis of the new register to the last one, the one used for the 2012 elections to identify which names are out and in. The EC chair is a crazy woman in my view who wants to mess up this country. I hope the international community has been following the stories and she should not be treated with kid gloves if she really messes up the country. There is nobody in the country who does not doubt the fairness of the EC in the upcoming elections.
The position of the NPP on the ballot paper is very significant for me. The 5th position was the work of God. Every normal position has fingers and we know the fingers of the hand are five. Anybody whether literate or illiterate can remember the number of fingers so can link this with the position of the NPP on the ballot paper. Fortunately the finger is to be used in voting and anybody who cannot remember anything on that day will remember the finger. The communicators of the NPP should go out there to remind everybody even the starkest illiterate.

PRESIDENT MAHAMA HAS NO COMMITMENT TO HIS PROMISES
Former President Rawlings led this country for 19 years comprising 11 years as a military dictator and 8 years as a democratically elected President. He was known to be firm and uncompromising with even his ministers and close associates to the extent that he was reported to slap some of them. Under his leadership some people were tied to the stakes and shot, many were imprisoned and missing and could not be found till date. Ghana has survived all these developments for 19 years so what again cant the country accommodate for 4 years?
President Mahama claims under his leadership the country has witnessed peace and security. He again claims he is tolerant, respectful and there is unity in his party. These attributes do not put food on the table of any family. The seeming unity in the NDC is nothing but manufactured. One recalls Carl Wilson’s frustration in the media and the attempt to form a movement to contest the national elections. He was silently talked to and offered the things that will make him succumb to the party. If this and others which are done behind the scene to give their party that semblance of unity, one will say it has been manufactured.
President Mahama and the NDC are saying this to portray the flag bearer of the NPP as not deserving to lead this country. They are all living in a dreamland which will never resonate with voters. If this country has survived the leadership of former President Rawlings one does not know who again will lead with a firmer style than President Rawlings. The truth is that President Mahama and the NDC leadership are afraid of the consequence of the massive corruption they have visited on this country when Nana Addo assumes office after the elections. The campaign against the NPP flag bearer is rather exposing them and they can never run away from accountability. The whole country apart from them, friends and family members are actually calling for accountability.
God has deposited good things in every human beings and it is left to that being on how he wants to use those good things. He said we were wonderfully and fearfully made and that He has good thoughts about us. President Mahama and his cohorts decided to use the good things deposited in them by God to amass wealth to the disadvantage of the majority of Ghanaians which God has disapproved of. God himself is presiding over the accountability by President Mahama and his people so he cannot run away from it. The President has always relied on his communication ability in politics. He has no good management sills and any keen observer will find that his administration has been the dispensing of money. Until Ghanaians give the opportunity to Nana Addo we cannot taste and benefit the good things God has planted in him. God is leading the change through the Ghanaian people and it going to be massive and anybody who tries to resist it will be dealt with by Him.
Of what value is infrastructure when people are hungry and starving because of lost of job and inability to secure one? Of what value is infrastructure when people’s living condition has been deplorable because of high cost of goods and services? Infrastructure makes meaning to President Mahama and members of the NDC with their friends and families because they can afford to use them. They have also benefited from the construction of these infrastructures because of the wealth they have amassed through corruption. I therefore wish to advise the NPP to go back and adopt the statement during the 2012 campaign that ‘’voters should consider their living conditions to inform them cast their ballots.’’ This statement captures it better.
The economic parameters are the ones that determine the living conditions but not infrastructure as stand alone. In fact infrastructure are created to impact positively on the living conditions if they are carefully and skillfully selected and implemented. In the case of the NDC the creation of infrastructure were done for political expediencies and for the sake of corruption. These involve large amounts so they craftily selected high value projects which will make their purses fat at the expense of the state. There is a common saying in business that money creates wealth and the more one has the money, more wealth is created. How can this happen when businesses have to close down and worst of all the high cost of capital?
The President has been on a mission to play on the psychology of voters in the Ashanti Region. His proposition of a house to house campaign, kitchen to kitchen campaign will result to nothing except frustration as happened in the recent elections in the US. He also tried to woo voters by showering praises on them, when less than a year ago the Ashanti Region was the hardest hit with the power crisis than any part of the country. This was intentional and no amount of complain from the people could elicit attention except for the people to embark on attacks and destruction of ECG installations and massive demonstrations. We have not forgotten all these as the President wished we have. All the promises he made in Ashanti were not well intentioned but to lure the people to vote for him to go back to do worse things. He is just fighting to have a second term after which he will not seek the people’s mandate so have no commitment to the things he has been promising. We should ask ourselves how many of the promises made by the President in 2012 were fulfilled.
The visit to my region by the NDC just after the NPP flag bearer left was a testimony that there is a wind of change blowing in the Volta Region. This has never happened before in the previous elections. The NDC was first in the region followed by the NPP and then the NDC in short intervals. They went there referring to the Volta Region as their wife. The NDC should know from today the Volta Region is no more their wives if they are at all. The region like any other region is independent of any political party from 2016 and it shall remain so. It is a region to be taken very seriously by politicians and not to be taken for granted. The relationship with a wife is for better for worse and our region cannot be in that relationship. The claim that they can take better care of the region than NPP is never true. They have been in power for 16 years with so much resource available to them. NPP has been in power for 8 years with far less resource. If one does a ratio of infrastructure to resource in real terms the NPP will be found to have done better. NDC can no more throw dust in the eyes of the people of the Volta Region after they have swam on the crest of wave established by the former President Rawlings, a dear son of the region. They are currently on the path of disgracing him and possibly incarcerate him as a way of shutting him up. The Region will not facilitate this by giving them their respected votes.
The media in the US will not announce election results because they have confidence in their state institutions to discharge their duties without taken sides. Ghanaians should never compare the performance of the media in the US to their counterparts in Ghana. There is a very big gulf separating us. We should not go for wishful thinking as it is usually the case in this country.
The full results of the US elections have been known virtually one day after the election, nobody will try to influence the results. In Ghana and Africa, politicians especially incumbent try to influence the results in collusion with the electoral management body so they hold on to it. This will not be allowed in Ghana from this year whether incumbent and the EC like it or not. The electoral system is for the people and not the Government and the EC so they will not be allowed to do anything which has been mandated by the people through the laws of the land.
The Fulani problem in Ghana has been a long standing one and the President cannot go around this time as we approach the elections to making promises as to how he will deal with it. For the 8 years that they have been in government what have they done about it? The people should know that he is just throwing sand in their eyes and should totally ignore him. The administration of Nana Addo will help resolve this matter once and for all.

How would Ayariga expect a Lady EC to perform that could be different from how a male EC would perform at the job?

Ayariga must come to terms with the fact that the errors existed in his Application, and he could have done better to file it accurately, at the very first instance.

Chastising the EC Chair for doing her job strictly, disregarding the long-standing influence that the Politicians would evoke to claim for Officials to overlook their mediocrity and sheer laziness, undermines the EC's responsibility to the country.
