There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

Prior to the election of Bush in 2000, there had been only three cases in which one candidate one the electoral votes and the other the popular votes and all happened in the 19th century.

The American system,a so called system to protect smaller states is a very bad system which cannot be practiced in any third world country,it is a recipe for disaster,it will mean NPP will remain in opposition for a very long time if not forever because they hardly won three regions in any election,in the last two elections they won only two regions and even if you look back,in 1996 they won only one region,the Ashanti region.
It is foolish to adopt that nonsense in Ghana,we don't need it,even right now Hillary is ahead to win the popular votes but she cannot become a president due to the electoral college system,nobody in this modern world should think of something like that.

The electoral college approaches this principle by ensuring that the winner gets at least 50% of the electoral college votes which is 270. The same principle of majority of voters apply to the electoral college system too.

Sadly, this is the thinking of our so called educated who contribute nothing practical or constructive to our nation. Always transplanting foreign ideas without examining it feasibility to the African environment. Even Americans have seen that this system is bogus hence the protests.If this cheating system is brought to Ghana and for that matter Africa the result will be more civil wars.
