WHEW!!! Just looking at mammoth crowd of mourners at a journalist's funeral, one cannot help but ask the question if Ghana a failed state?

You see, a failed state is not only a state whose political or economic system has become so weak that the government is no longer in control; but a state whose government is unable to channel its human and natural resources to productive use. In keeping with this definition, then there is no question Ghana is a failed state. It is just scandalous and absolutely mindless to see so much waste of human resources on dead bodies. This antediluvian unproductive culture must stop before our country can join the comity of civilized and progressive nations.

It is for this reason that I have maintained all along that no Ghanaian, who was born in the country and lived all his life in Ghana without extensive foreign exposure cannot be an effective leader to move the country forward. The likes of JJ Rawlings, JA Kufuor, JD Mahama and the late Atta Mills are all products of a non-productive culture.

History would show that leaders who transformed their countries in socio-economic fortunes all lived extensively in abroad before returning home. For instance, Mahatma Gandhi spent years in South Africa before returning home to liberate India; Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore also spent years in Britain; our own Dr. Kwame Nkrumah; Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia; Pierre Elliot Trudeau of Canada, to name but a few. These great nationalist spent years abroad to perfect their socio-economic of the world before returning home to lift up their respective countries with their acquired knowledge, and our country must look for people of this calibre.
