Not sure where the US comparison came from -- Mahama needs a visit to even the smallest city in the US to count how many cranes he sees in the skyline and many of the developments are being done by the private sector. We can't put all our eggs in one basket -- he claims they have invested in infrastructure but does not seem to have made a dent in the growing the economy or reducing unemployment. We need some creative ideas to grow the private sector and reduce unemployment and that is the message that NPP needs to put out there for the youth to hear.

I lived in Port Harcourt in the late 70s and their roads and flyovers were nothing compared to ours so I can imagine now..We should just thank GOD for the peace and stop stealing the money meant for development.I really miss Nkrumah if he had been given the opportunity Ghana would have been a better place like Malaysia Singapore and other places but now let keep quiet with our little effort

I drive fifteen miles to work in Houston and drive over 15 flyovers or interchanges. Kotoko International Airport will not be called an airport let alone an international airport in USA. Airports like Kotoko are hundreds thousands in USA and they are called city Airports.

It will take Ghana over 500 years to reach infrastructural development like USA and at that time, citizens of USA and most North America, Europe and Asian countries would have moved to a different planet from Earth.

First, the mentality of Ghanaians and for that matter most Africans need extensive overhauling. You have people without decency who troop to the beach and bush areas to crap in glare daylight.

Our beliefs and some cultural norms are hindrances for our development. If this President even believe that foolishness he is blabbering of, don't we have a big problem. The whole budget of Ghana will not even equal the budget of the city of Houston.

We have Airports in Texas that are in themselves are cities.

The International Airport at Dallas called D/FW from its North gate entrance to South gate entrance is seven miles with Hotels, Banks, Car rental companies with thousands of cars on their lots and more than 200 companies operating inside this Airport.

Kotoko is a village airport that does not befit a country like Ghana.

What he said has nothing to do with hard liquor.

I don't also think it is about airport we should be talking about,airports are not the only infrastructure in the country,if we have to be talking about airports we ourselves may be displaying our ignorance thinking the airports at where we live are either the largest we ever seen or the largest in the country,I know both DFW and IAH and many other large airports but will not talk about airport here,that is not the issue.
That said,as a strong NDC,I feel very bad if I read things like this that Ghanaians are comparing Ghana to US,how on earth can we do that,we are not close to even the least developed state in America when it comes to infrastructure.
What both candidates in the just ended election said was to repair federal funded roads and bridges that may be in not too good conditions,they are not building new roads,the roads are already built but they are expanding them every single day to cater for the increasing population,Ghana doesn't have that and there is nothing to compare,we should be comparing ourselves to Togo or Nigeria instead of the mighty America.
The reason why there is too much traffic in Accra is not because they have more cars,it is because they do not have the roads,there are not enough roads to connect the surbubs,no alternative roads so we all ended up on the same roads before struggling to our destinations.
Just one example I will give is, Tessano and Abelenkpe are two sister towns sharing one police station and one market but surprisingly,there is no road linking the two towns,the quickest way to reach the market and the police station from Abelenkpe is to walk,if you take a car you have to go round and by the time you reach there the person who walks will reach there before you,instead of constructing roads to link these places we rather have a path and a pedestrian bridges linking these places which are residential areas,few of the best places in Accra per our standard.
There are more places which are worst,places like Nima,Mamobi,even Teshie Nungua,Labadi and many places most people cannot drive to their homes,they have to park and walk home,we don't have that in America,there are roads in front of every home,even Lome not too far away from us may not have tarred roads to every home but there is road in front of every home,it is a well planned city as compare to Accra,even their market area is well structured that you can drive to every store to load your car,something we don't have in Accra.

Even if our leaders don't get the chance to tour American cities they should not be making such blunders,there is nothing in Ghana to compare to America.

Stop your nonsense. I know a lot of Airports in USA including the one at Denver where you live and the one at Atlanta, Hatfield Airport. Tell me which Airport is bigger than these Airports. I worked for DFW Airport board that manages the Airport for five years and know what I am talking about. The Los Angeles and O'Hare at Chicago might be busier airports but not bigger than DFW.

We know many blacks don't consume hard liquor due to largely affordability reasons but that cannot be said of the whites,you can't sit in your house to know that.

Sarpong,passing through any airport does not mean you know the airport,working for Dallas airport board does not mean you know Dallas airport,I can tell you that for a fact,even people who work in airports not all of them know the airports very well to know every where.

You do not know Denver International airport,you only passed through one of the concourses to catch your flight so you can't tell me DFW and IAH are bigger than DIA,neither me will be able to say that for a fact.

You can google it to know,that airport occupies 56sq miles and has six runways,Concourse B alone is longer than a mile,the rental areas and employee parking areas alone are like a city on its own.
If you flew on American to your DFW flight,you ended up in a smaller concourse and if some few years back before the merger with Continental and United,you ended up in a smaller concourse,even if you flew on United which has the hub you can only know a small portion of the airport,I have a lot of experience in travelling and know what I'm talking about,you do not know any of these airports apart from travelling through for few hours if not few minutes.
Between 2011 and 2014 alone from IAD through CLT to DEN I was making four segments on the average of every three weeks, I was largely commuting between these airports, I also know many airports outside the US which are larger than some of the airports we have in the US.
I worked in few large airports and know what I'm talking about,some of these airports have many concourses or terminals as it varies but they are very small in size.
You may not know that as some of us do.

I have been to New York, Sans Francisco(Silicon Valley and Sans José), Connecticut, Pennsylvania as an ordinary Ghanaian visiting and I don't see much difference between America and Ghana today because when I take STC from Accra To Abidjan and fly from Abidjan to Dakar I proud myself as an African.

You have no clue of what you are saying. Do you know that most of the people you see under the bridges are people who receive social security checks every month due to disabilities either physical or mental and choose to rather live there instead of shelters provided by the cities and Agencies like Red Cross and others? Most of these people have cell phones.

Yes, some of these people have mental problems and no matter what help is provided to them, have chosen to live that kind of place instead of living in a structured environment where they have to obey rules.

Even some of these beggars have cars parked nearby and have chose to beg because they are lazy or can earn more begging than working at minimum wage hard jobs.

Seems you have no idea about these people. Most of them are alcoholics and drug addicts who because of the lifestyle they have decided to live have even rejected help from their own families to live with them because they cannot obey rules. Despite all that, these people go and eat for free at food pantries provided by the cities or agencies that care for poor folks.

You cannot compare the America down trodden to those in Ghana. There is not one street beggar in Ghana who owns a private car but some of these beggars own their own cars.

Some of the America beggars with cars will be called rich in Ghana.

I can proudly tell you those women selling bread at the bus stations have great numbers in their bank account than most of you in America.

In the USA they do not build roads and use it for propaganda as a cover of stealing public funds like You Mahama is doing in Ghana. I have lived in America for 20yrs. There is no dumsor. I sat at home and opened my company on the internet and started operations without stepping foot at the office of IRS and State Corporation Commissioner's office but when I came to ghana to register my company, I have to go to the Registrar and Accountant General's Department for weeks to get the service I needed. They don't have Internet access in this day and age. Yet Mahama and his idiot ministers are driving V8 vehicles. It takes more than 2weeks to clear a container at the ports yet we think the country is doing well. Mr President you claim you are not a magician yet you gave promises in 2008 that you knew you cannot fulfilled, you have failed so somebody else should take over. If roads alone is a yardstick for country's progress go to Nigeria and see. Like Nigeria will be the best place to live but no it takes more than infrastructure alone to run a country. To be honest with yourself the unemployment rate alone is grounds for your disqualification to run as a presidential candidate. NDC should have nominated a new candidate but NDC did not allow any body to contest you hence your candidature. Ghana is not any body's property so only the best candidate should rule. Your claim that you will create jobs in your next tenure is very dishonest because governments don't create jobs,the private sector does. Just look at the mess you and your NDC government did to SADA,GYEEDA etc. It is time to step aside for a more visionary leader to lead. Do you think if Obama had the unemployment rate that you have like he will win a second term? When will an African President be honest and resign honorably?Cry my beloved country.

What the president said was intended for the Ghanaian public and nothing else. However, Ghanaians living in the US have taken to ridiculing the president for that bone head statement. Ghana is no way ahead of the US in infrastructure development, because of the country's recent completion of the Nkrumah interchange. There are many cities with infrastructures that will put Ghana to same. It seems Mahama somehow misconstrued the campaign statements of Hillary and Trump to imply that the US is lacking behind Ghana in infrastructure. Both campaigns were proposing, as their campaign platforms, to upgrade the US' crumbling road and bridges network. It doesn't serve the country well when the president goes around making empty boastful statements to boast his campaign. Mahama should be careful when he makes those kinds of statements.

What can you compare during your 8 years in power to that of US. It seems to me that Mahama is confused so he talks so loose these days. Mahama is so boastful when any leader in Africa would have put up infrastructure more than 50 times what he Mahama has done with the resources that was made available to him. But for Mahama's THIEVERY, CORRUPTION, and INCOMPETENCE Ghana should have been 50 times better of. Anyway , Mr. Mahama, why don't you talk about SADA as an achievement to Ghanaians? Because of your THIEVERY, you shy away from SADA - SHAME UNTO YOU!!!!!
