The constitution of Ghana demand that when a sitting president dies his vice takes over. It's not in the constitution of any party in Ghana that after four or eight year mandate of the president his vice automatically becomes the next presidential candidate. So for John Mahamah to go about with the drivel that NPP did not allow Aliu Mahamah to succeed John Kuffuor shows the president as a fool or very much uninformed. Which is an insult to the sensibilities of Ghanaians.

As someone who has decided that there is no real good choice, as they are all the same, and resigned myself to whoever wins the election, I have kept away from making comments on this farcical election. I am making an exception here.

The truth of the matter is that Mahama is simply trying to use the undeniable ethnocentric and bigotic credentials of the NPP tradition against them. Even in opposition, their supporters never toned down their contempt for Northerners and Ewes in particular. Only a newcomer to Ghanaweb or a deranged hypocrite will deny that Northerners are not held in much contempt by many NPP supporters from the Akan ethnic group. We may not be reading much of the pepeni and ntafo name-calling recently but it is still there.

Voting for NPP therefore may be like blacks and Asians voting with far-right parties in the recent BREXIT ref. in the UK to leave the EU, or for Trump. Soon afterwards, the racists they joined to vote started attacking them!

On the other hand, it is a proven fact that the NDC is ethnically more accommodating than the NPP. It is the only party in Ghana which is embraced passionately on a large scale in all the 10 regions of the country. The shakers and movers in it are spread all over the country, not only in two regions like the NPP. Indeed, if an Asante emerges as a presidential candidate in the future, he/she will garner the same support and enthusiasm accorded Mills and Mahama. That's why Mrs Konadu Rawlings shouldn't have been in haste to become President and left to form her own party.

Mahama was therefore simply fishing in the muddy waters of ethnocentric politics to score points against the NPP as a party (not Akans as a people as being miscontrued here by mischievious xters like bentil), even if some consider that as cheap points. But the fact remains that he was trying to throw back the NPP's own mud - its ethnocentric credentials.

John Dramani Mahama lacks education. It is a profoundly poignant statement and a very apt description of John Dramani Mahama.
As the stresses of his loss becomes much clearer to him, the deficits of his leadership and absolute lack of the needed competence and intelligence to govern Ghana, has been laid bare.
The NDC party is in much great difficulty considering the fact that, Mahama has not only collapsed Ghana, he has made that their NDC party the most unattractive political organization in this country.
We will keep on advising them. The sane members must save that their NDC party because let's be clear. After December 7th, NDC will stay in the political wilderness for a very long time.
There is no way, John Mahama will retain power on December 7th, no way. No rigging, no violence, no nothing can save him. He will lose massively and hopefully NDC can clean up the rot and the percolating stinking mess to contribute to Ghana's multiparty democracy, with the long view of just maybe courting the confidence of Ghanaians again to entrust them with power.
Thinking of the entrenchment of Ghana's multiparty democracy, and for the survival of that their NDC party, this is not something those sane members of that their party can push further down the line like the kicking of a can.
Ghana needs the NDC party in our multiparty democracy and currently, theirs is the worst and most unattractive political organization ever. Mahama has collapsed their party and is actually getting worse.
Incompetence- check.
Corruption - check.
Thievery - check.
Ethnocentrism and tribalism - check.
Mismanagement - check.
Lack of vision - check.
Violence, rape, killings - check.
Economic collapse and ruin -check.
And the list goes on and on. This is not an attractive record by any stretch of the imagination. We repeat, those sane NDC members must save that their party if not for anything at all, for the entrenchment of Ghana's multiparty democracy.
