What is the point? How is it damaging if someone takes a photo of his or her ballot paper? What will the nation loose ? How is this a national security threat? I just don't see the danger here unless some group want to temper ...

Then Police has a load of work to do because, for my immagination they will arrest around 2 to 3 Million People. Pictures shall be taken no matter what is on the offing.

Papa Police Boss,know that the electorate are aware of the incumbent NDC maneuvers to rigged the presidential election.Therefore, a Social Media Shut Down is one of the many rigged prone strategies to Support "Media should not announce or Broadcast results on the ground as Declared by EC Representative to the public".B'cos Social Media is an antidote to the Supression on the Media on election day,hence your Social Media rhetorics. In Civilised Society,no official or anyone ventures to use his position to influence elections in favour of the incumbent under the disguise of Security, or for whatever reasons.Elections hang in the Necks of(1)Board of Elections(EC Office,including Returning officers), (2),The Media.Only in Africa one could hear that!.That's one of the reasons our part of the world is called a 3rd world;retrogressing to 4th world in the 21st Century, in my personal opinion.
Anyway.Africa must learn to do the right in the name of integrity and genuine Service to the motherland.

Somehow the leadership of the police out of ignorance and political motivation believe they can make laws as they go and enforce.

What they want to do amounts to unlawful seizure and search and that is an affront to the constitution.
