What did they think was going to happen as a result of their hooting? The answer is that they did not think before acting and therein lies the problem. I am for neither party as I don't live in Ghana and do not know enough about either party to one or the other but I own a business in Ghana and visit quite often. One thing I know is the nation's taxing and tax collection system is severely inadequate and it has remained that way when bothe the NDC and NPP has been in power as I have run the business for 14 years now. There is severe corruption in the collection and use of tax revenue with little accountability and oversight. This needs to change if Ghana is to move forward no matter what party is in charge. Ghana alsi needs a better system in the sake and purchase of lands and there has to be an easier and a lot shorter way to legally register a piece of land as one's own in ghana; 3 to 4 years just to get a land title makes zero sense and has obviously not prevented massive fraud in the system. Too many civil servants are taking bribes to supplement their incomes because the government does not take timely and full compensation of their staffers seriously. Although it is not an excuse to take bribes, the civil servant still has to transport him/herself to work every day and still feed their families so how can they do that with inconsistent compensation? I am sure the MPs and the higher echelon of government are all paid on time and in full regardless of their incompetences. WE MUST DO BETTER IN GHANA.

My beef is especially with the ones who have traveled outside the country and have seen and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and other things in other peoples' countries. Instead of pushing and working hard to make their country, Ghana, also beautiful and great, they rather prefer to steal from the country to build the big houses, buy and drive the big and expensive cars, chase and spend the ill gotten wealth on expensive girls and women. Unfortunately, they do not know that those countries that have made their countries attractive have made sacrifices in the past to get to where they are now. I have come to realize that Ghanaians, apart of being ignorant of the laws of nature, are also just a bunch of ingrates, always complaining of something!

Folks hooting at anyone irrespective of his office or status or station in live is a behavior that must be discouraged and frawn upon. But reading all the divisive comments on this incident and equal divisive utterances by our politicians for political advantage give me a lot of worry. In a democracy everyone is a citizen with equal rights and dignity. Those who recoile into tribal and linguistic comfort to throw insults and show xenophobic attitudes must understand there is no future in our tribal fiefdoms.Our future depends on being Ghanaians first before tribe. When our politicians in search for votes go to one section of the country and ask to be adopted as a local sons and bribes chiefs for support, but then go before the section of their birth and asked to be voted for because they are their native sons, and are not condemned , then we are failing as citizens of one country. Rather than demphazing ethnicity, we justify it by playing a game of equalization and denying it. Shamefully we try to pay opponent as the worse offenders. Well, we hard wire divisions to the point where non ethnic president get hooted at for being in the wrong place and crowd and we start wringing our hands? Divisiveness must be discouraged in all walks of life in Ghana. We must do onto others what we want to be done to us.
Finally folks respect is earned not demanded. Any leader who thinks he can get away with his citizens through propaganda is insulting their intelligence. Perceptions are slow to get hard wired but when they form they become reality.
The Veep for example earned some respect from some Kyebi residents when he went there and said despite their constant vote for the opposition his government party continues to provide needed infrastructure and asked them to consider voting for his party this time around.( begging, respect) The Prez. Once went to Kumasi to tell them that even if he pave their roads with gold they won't appreciate him? ( arrogance and disrespect)
Contrast that with the begging of the current NPP flag bearer for votes.

The days are gone when political leaders secure the will of citizens only to believe that the power of their office makes them sovereign over the governed. Leaders earn the respect of the governed when they are perceived as persons of incorruptible integrity, caring and pricipled, Our native traditional history are replete with chiefs who are left to wither on their stools till death when they are perceived to be men of doubtful intergtity and without scruples. Some are even destoolled and replaced by their subjects.

So they don't tolerate any 'foreign' ruler. Why did you think they were part of few kingdoms that seriously fought the Europeans while other chiefs (former kings) were signing bonds and aiding the colonialist.
