DAGBON: THE NPP CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR PEACE; VOTE WISELY.
It's widely said and accepted that, coming events casts their shadows. And that, "when it's coming, it's doing." First fool, they say, should not be a fool. But a second fool is always a BIG fool. As for a third fool, your guess should be as good as mine. As a people, we should be guided consciously by our pasts, this way, we simply can define and shape our future to suit a comfortable living for us. We have witnessed, as the histories have taught us, and that which we saw with our eyes, how unsafe it is to live under the leadership of the Busia-Danquah minus Dombo tradition which the New Patriotic Party(NPP) traces roots with pride to.
In the run-up to the 1969 elctions that saw Dr. KA Busia as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ghana, with Edward Akuffu Addo, father of Nana Addo Danquah Akuffu Addo, who's the leader of the NPP, as a ceremonial President, it was rumored in most corners of Dagbon that, the then Progress Party(PP) had run their campaign on Chieftaincy lines and were bent on plunging Dagbon into chaos and anarchy should in case they were victorious in the elections. Unfortunately, many a people in Dagbon paid death ears to this rumor, and treated same with the highest level of contempt. It was during this period Naa Mahamadu succeeded in ascending to the Yani throne(A success many Dagbon historians described as illegal, and politically influenced). Immediately after the August 1969 elections, the government inflicted Dagon with pain. On the 9th of September, 1969, barely a month after the elections, the then Regent of Yani; Naa Yakubu Andani was attacked at the Yani palace, and about thirty-three(33) defenseless individuals were gruesomely murdered, and many more butchered and suffered damaging wounds. In all, it was a manifest and proof to the earlier rumor of the PP's plan which the people of Dagbon took as a joke. Yes! Dagbon was attacked, and the true colors of the Busia-Danquah minus Dombo government was demonstrated.
Just as the people were fooled in 1969, we all witnessed, if not, heard of how Dagbon was once more deceived and/or fooled in the year 2000 elections. There was, as the case in 1969, rumors of the NPP's intention to plunge the Dagbon kingdom into renewed chaos and anarchy.
Interestingly, in the 2000 election, the people of Dagbon did not only ignore this rumor, but treated it with faith. The late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani supervised this faith by openly campaigning for the NPP. In fact, he endorsed the NPP's bid, and by far, urged all Sons and Daughters of Dagbon to massively vote for the NPP. On the election day, the late Overlord made his vote public. In fact he showed his vote to the cameras in order to demonstrate faith in the NPP. It was in this election that the NPP for the first time in Ghana's electoral history won massively in the Northern Region, which undoubtedly contributed hugely to their victory. It was historic. The cry for change was received and endorsed with faith. The people of Dagbon knew very well that the NPP did not change character, though, they changed a name; from PP to NPP. But, decided to put the past behind, with the illusion that, the NPP wouldn't repeat their worst.
Unfortunately, as the saying goes, a decorated monkey does not change to a human being. Barely a year and half after the NPP's 2000 victory, the Yaa Naa was again attacked. This time, he was gruesomely murdered. In fact, it's the most despicable act that has ever visited the soils of Dagbon. Dagbon was murdered on the 27th of March, 2002. Several people lost their lives in broad-day-light under a government that preaches rule of law and good governance. Properties were destroyed, and children were made orphans. Many wives became widows, and Dagbon was left in pieces. Businesses suffered as state of emergency and curfew became the order of the day. Unlike the 1969 chaotic situation created and executed by the PP government, the 2002 situation was met with a trickle-down retaliation from sympathizers of the Andani gate. Houses and properties in Tamale were burnt to ashes; Many lost relatives and many flee Tamale. In effect, peace was lost, and Dagbon suffered retardation in development.
Wow! It is yet another general elections, and the NPP is back. Just as in the 2000, they are preaching CHANGE in government at a time Dagbon is enjoying peace. At a time Dagbon is enjoying development. At a time Dagbon is building families with smiles. At a time Dagbon knows no pieces. At a time Dagbon is marrying without bothering on which gate a groom or bride belongs. At a time Dagbon have not orphans from clashes of chieftaincy. This is a time the NPP without shame is asking you(Dagbon) to vote for them.
Would you not be morons? You were fooled and fooled again. If you allow yourselves to be fooled once more, your destiny would not be any different from a kingdom of morons. The NPP cannot be trusted with your peace.
If for nothing at all, just look at the demeanor of the leader of the NPP in the person of Nana Addo Danquah Akuffu Addo. Everything about him demonstrate violence. Yes, you read me right. VIOLENCE! His father, Edward Akuffu Addo, supervised and instigated your suffering in 1969. His political tradition made you suffered in pieces in 2002. How then can you trust him and his party?
My message to Dagbon is simple. A vote for the NPP is a vote for chaotic Dagbon. A vote for the NPP is a vote for a running Dagbon. A vote for the NPP is a vote for a retarded Dagbon. A vote for the NPP is a vote for curfew Dagon.
Vote wisely! Rather, Din daa lan ningla, din lan ning.
