This man, Isaac Bokouro is very stupid. Even the so-called Christian countries do not force their workers into any type of worship. Holding a weekly prayer service at the church of Pentecost for all the workers, no matter their faith, is an affront the freedom of religion and worship stated in our constitution. Ghana is a secular stat,e and no individual, group or organizations should be allowed to rock the boat. Zoomlion is treading on grounds, and they must be called to order immediately. No worker of that organization should be made to attend any religious service as part of their work schedule. The so-called wedekly service should be optional, or better still, must cease forthwith. Ghana does not need to be pushed into religious conflict. We are a secular state, with all the different religions respecting each other and living in peace.

What is the connection between Zoomlion and the Church of Pentecost? And why should Muslim women be FORCED to go into a church for thanksgiving? What kind of thanksgiving is this? Is Zoomlion a sanitation company or a religious company? I think the husbands of the women are right. The management of Zoomlion has a hidden agenda to subtely make these women to convert to Christianity. The women have the right to employment and so NOBODY can ask them to resign because the nefarious practices of zoomlion is against their religious beliefs. Then zoomlion should also be made to close down. Ghana is a constitutional, rule-of-law, equal opportunity country; and so even if a Muslim is employed by even Action Faith Ministries or Calvary Baptist Church, they are supposed to respect his/her religious beliefs. All Muslims must rise up to this injustice and the Chief Imam must investigate into issue and bring the appropriate authorities to intervene in roder to stop this unconstitutional and fraudulent act of impunity, intolerance and mediocrity.

If this is not convenient to anyone - Christian or Muslim - he or she should just set up Muslim companies that take off any day of their choice to pray or find the convenient time to make their babies like rats.

Now assuming u are a Ga living in the predominantly Dagomba city of Tamale and cos u are a minority u are being forced to undergo some of the cultural practices of the Dagomba against ur wish; how will u take it. Guarantee Trust Bank and Antrak Group of Companies are owned by Muslims but the majority of the workers are Christians; are they being forced to join Muslim prayer service on Fridays? Let us be a bit fair. Even ur own father cannot force u to eat the food u don't like.

The Husbands do not own the women to compel them to worship any Religion against their will.

If the Husbands are insecure, they are the ones that need drastic readjustment to the real World.

Meanwhile, no Business, including Zoomlion, must be made to employ only members of a particular Religion. That is as primitive as it is against the human right principles. No discrimination based upon Religion must be practiced by any entity, individuals, or groups.

I wonder how old the complaining Husbands are. But we have long gone to the same Schools together, in Ghana, as Christians, Muslims and Traditionalists. That did not deny anyone of their preferred Religion to worship. So, why are these men scared that their wives working in Zoomlion would automatically abandon their faith?

The women's conversion, if not coerced out of them as a precondition to work at Zoomlion, must not be seen as a problem at all.

I know of many couples who belong to different Religions and still enjoy each other's love. So, the men must learn to be tolerant and open-minded to respect their wives choices of Religion.

Zoomlion is working on public contracts and is being paid tax payers money. It has no right whatsoever to compel any woman, Christian or Muslim, to worship with the leadership. It is gross and uncivilised with no handle in the bureaucratic and democratic world. Ghana is a secular state, not a Christian state.

In America, there are clear rules which forbid educational and health institutions and other institutions that receive Federal grants using religion as a basis of their operations.

This problem has been there for a long time. I had complained about it before. While collecting data in the Central Region in 1993, I went to the new Post Office at Brofoyeduru to transact business. Early that morning only one staff was on duty. Upon enquiry I was told that the Manager had been arranging an early morning worship for the staff and staff were upstairs praying! I was horrified and went to the Graphic Office to complain. The man in charge told me to write an article to complain, and refused to go and investigate and file a report. When I got to the Centre for Devt Studies at the Univ Cape Coast, where some staff were assisting me, I mentioned the issue. I was told that even at the Univ. Health Centre, the nurses were asking patients to stand up to pray! My informants, one a Muslim, told me cos of that they stopped going there and go to private clinic and bring the bill to the Dept!

Indeed, Ghanaians are uncivilised!
