The crushing and humiliating defeat suffered by John Dramani Mahama under a formidable party like the NDC is a reflection of the peoples anger against an insensitive and corrupt government.I have made the argument time and again that the NDC as a party have a huge following because of its revolutionary antecedent coincidentally necessitated by corruption at the time.Probity and accountability preached by the PNDC was in reaction to corruption and cheating.The magnitude of corruption and theft under a government purporting to be social democratic government with the PNDC as its antecedence is incredibly shocking and extremely at variance with socialist ideology.Overt cases of wanton corruption that saw millions of Ghana cedis siphoned through deliberate artificial creations under the watch of executive power is most unpardonable.The good people of Ghana were expected to show their wrath if you juxtapose the naked corruption,pilfering with impunity and open display of opulence by assigns or associates of this criminal regime with the massive,untold hardship brought on to majority of Ghanaians as a result of mismanagement of the economy.John Mahama came to liberalize corruption in the NDC as the ruling party against its social democratic ideology.This was fully taken advantage of by infiltrators,sycophants and opportunist to sing his praise songs just to make their money.Some of us kept on making the point he was only enjoying a false sense of security and completely out of touch with the party's grass roots thinking money alone could win him the election.His plan of creating an elite group to exert authority in the NDC as the ruling party seriously backfired particularly if that was to be done through purging Cadres perceived to be loyal to the Founder.The NDC appeal to the majority poor and moderate Ghanaians including many neutral voters.The president selective and discriminative approach of hugely rewarding members of his inner circle some of whom are not even party members significantly affected the vote base of the NDC with the neglect of the low social class through unfavourable anti-social policies.Of concern is the oppressive and brutish stance he took against party members critical of corruption under his government reaffirming the fact that he is indeed corrupt.Even people who campaigned for him in 2012 and have been unfortunate victims of the corruption bug for speaking against same suffered horrific,traumatic oppressive experience orchestrated by this government.In deed cases bothering on serious illigalities such as persecution through wrongful dismissal have been repressed in court once again through the AG to cover rot and avoid judgement debt.It is ironic that the government through the AG will rather chose to pay dubious judgement debt when genuine ones are being avoided reflecting the selectivity ,bias and corruption even in the rule of law under the Mahama Administration.The quantum and magnitude of lost in both the presidential and parliamentary is strikingly unprecedented reflecting the anger at the incumbent government even among loyal NDC followers who fell betrayed and neglected.Despite some of us predicting a one touch victory for the NPP,the emphatic ,commanding victory is to sound a warming that the Ghanaian voter is increasingly becoming discerning and should no longer be taken for granted.Unfortunately,JM would have learnt rather belatedly you never forget the people at the base of the mountain when climbing for it is the same people you meet when descending.A lot of party footsoldiers including Cadres felt used and damped by JM and he has reaped the reward.The NDC as a revolutionary party have a lot of people who may not be card bearing members but sacrifice to hit the ground on grounds of unblemished loyalty to the founder.These are the genuine ones with the revolutionary spirit who work free for the party sometimes with their own money without flouting party ID cards for contracts or some form of favour.That is the socialist idea the president odd to have known better as a self proclaimed Nkrumahist despite a style of governance completely at variance with socialist ideology.A true social Democratic party is a party of the masses that naturally should not lose by such a yawning gap except for something going terribly wrong.Everybody including the president and his cohorts know what went wrong;CORRUPTION AND INJUSTICE.
