While I take this opportunity to welcome our president-elect, let me also say 'job well done' to President John Mahama.

Granted, he made some unforced errors. But he did not lose because of those errors. After all, Ghanaians are not that vindictive. They know how to forgive. They know the true meaning of the old adage:
"to err is human, and to forgive is
divine".

I hope the president does not take his defeat as a rejection, or a lack of forginess on the part of the Ghanaian people. It is not personal.

From the way I see it, the country simply ran away from underneath him.

A simple analogy can be found in the scriptures: the horse of Absalom, -- the rebellious son of King David -- dashed away from underneath him as his hair got tangled among the branches, when he was fleeing his father's mighty army on the battle field.

I have been watching Ghana from afar ever since I left. And I see a country changing rapidly for the good and for the bad. The question a president for such a dynamic country must ask himself each day is:

How do I harness the forces of good, and bad to go in one direction for the benefit of all the people?

My message for the new president is the same. Because, this is where Ghana is at this point in time. Any president who thinks he or she can just copy, and apply what others have done or are doing; will see himself or herself humiliated by the Ghanaian people.

Ghana is changing: it's no longer our grandmother's Ghana. I therefore urge the president to duster himself up, be of good courage and make positive contributions to help Nana Akufo-Addo.

Come to think of it: after all are we not all Ghanaians? If I may respectfully ask?

May Lord Almighty continue to bless our beloved Great Ghana: Amen!!!
