The Asantehene captured my attention when he famously refused to bash NDC in support of NPP even though his relative Kuffour is with the NPP.His decision was explained that his only concern was the welfare of the country and how that contributed to the progress of Ashanti region.He has gone out of his way to be overly charitable to Rawlings to the point of publicly calling Rawlings's children his grandchildren (a code of some sort to the Ashanti people to back off). In return the NDC has accepted the Asantehene an honest broker and have utilized his services and influences in countless national issues.So I find it amazing that other traditional leaders particularly in the Volta region takes it upon themselves to firmly hinge our welfare to just one party.My father was an Ewe and I speak the language fluently so I do understand the speeches made by the some Ewe leaders at NDC functions in Volta region.I didn't even hear similar tones from the Northern towns and villages.It is time for the Volta chiefs and people to let go this unhelpful obsession about Ashantis.We are wasting our time and chances pitting our regional interest against any person with an Ashanti name.There are hundreds of thousands of Ewes who call Ashanti region their home and co exist peacefully with the Ashantis and many other tribes in Kumasi in particular.It is time to reject notions that they are our enemies and publicly reject leaders who seek to use tribalism to separate us.Time to stop the insults and put together our energies for the welfare of the whole country.

The chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Portuphy, has urged party supporters to defend themselves whenever they are attacked by supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

NDC supporters and sympathizers have reportedly come under severe attacks from some elements within the NPP after the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition was declared winner at the just ended elections.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Portuphy said in all 19 attacks have been perpetuated by the supporters of the NPP on the NDC and must be condemned.

On Saturday, December 10, a few hours after Nana Akufo-Addo’s confirmation as winner of the 2016 election, some party faithful stormed some public toilets manned by staff of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), seized the keys to the facilities, assaulting some persons in the process.

Mr. Portuphy has called on the leadership of the NPP to restrain its supporters from the attacks on its members.

“The hooliganism is still continuing, people have been sacked from their homes, respect us a little, it’s not fair. The security agencies are doing well to bring peace to bear on our society but does not prevent us from bringing to the attention of Ghanaians and the international community that these are criminal acts and must be stopped”.

The NPP has since condemned the act.

I think that aspect of the meeting requires interrogation. Because why should Mahama be worried and for what reason?
I don't think George Boateng sitting somewhere in Oyarifa is worried or would be worried or would fear to be arrested for anything. So what is it about Lordina, Ibrahim and Ali Seidu for which reason Mahama is worried?
