Police officers are hired to ensure there's law and order but if the story is true then the officer was definitely acting unprofessionally. Such professional misconduct among police officers is no news but the IGP must act swiftly to rid the police department of perpetrators of such acts of intimidation and thuggery. The conduct of the officers makes them no different from the criminals they're trying to rid the society of. Some of the police personnel don't seem to have a clear understanding of who their employers are and what their expectations of them are. The police cannot act like an occupying force and create chaos and disorderliness in a time of peace.

I protested my innocence but this made them behave more aggressive and pointing their guns at me. I was handcuffed and placed at the back of their pickup truck for 3 hours in the sweltering heat while they continued to threaten me. In the end they succeeded in extorting 300 ghc from me. I was so shocked and tired after this traumatic experience I couldn't continue with my journey. I'm glad they've been found out and I hope the law deals with them drastically

Alovor I strongly agree with you. I'm a student of KNUST. Armed robbers attacked us in our hostel and took our laptops. Fortunately for us one of my roomates was able to identify one of them. We reported him to the police and the day of the arrest, the policemen took 150gh from us. That was the only money we had. The guy (robber) confessed and his family members agreed to pay for the stolen items. The total amount was 5,400gh. They paid 4000gh on 5th November, 2016 to the police and they promised to pay the rest in a week time. We requested for the 4000gh and the police refused us for the reason that we need to sign a withdrawal letter after everything is settled. Suddenly, some sort of "cordial relationship" was created between the two CID's handling the case and the thief's family. The CID's later on made it clear to us that the robber has denied so the case would be taken to court. We were really miserable that day and examination was approaching so we had to let go. So as for Ghana police I can never defend them anywhere.
