Some Rectors and management personnel of Polytechnics bought expensive vehicles and forcibly took these vehicles and furniture away, without any formal authorization from the Office of the President. In Nov 2013, President Mahama directed all public servants never to take away any public property like vehicles, furniture and the like, with the sole aim of protecting the Institutions. Yet, without any formal permission, some unscrupulous Rectors, Registrars and Finance Officers bought for themselves high value cars and virtually stole them, without any sign of a whimper from their successors and Governing Councils. The Special Prosecutor to be set up must probe these evil public Officers, by rewarding informants.
