These communities have their resources being mined and drilled as they wallow in abject poverty, squalor and hopelessness.
There must be a way to bring development and economic opportunities to their doorstep so they and their generations yet unborn, can also climb up the social and economic ladder, and narrow the gap of gross inequality and endemic hopelessness.
Those are the issues and interventions that requires gov't's to think, think, think, think and have a plan that is well-thought through, intelligent and comprehensive that places the needs of the people at the center, lest we have a society of disgruntlement, strife and chaos.
Change has come and there is hope...

Oh Yes, but socio-economic development is not going to be achieved through the cheap, empty rhetoric that characterised the NPP's campaign.
Policies need to be well thought through, and build on existing initiatives. They need to be integrated and holistic, bringing together education, health, sanitation, agriculture, job creation, transport etc.
The CHPS compounds and Onuado mobile clinics together with the NHIS are providing much-needed primary health care. The health facilities such as clinics and hospitals which have been built provide vital secondary health care. We need to look to prevention of health problems through education on healthy lifestyles, encouraging exercise through keep-fit clubs etc.

The CHPS compounds are vital for primary healthcare delivery. Governments, irrespective of political persuasion, should develop these schemes for the benefit of our people.
