Mr Hamidu Mahama who also had 44 percent of the total vote and lost. It's time for the EC to compile a totally new voters register. The over 5 million "Apathetic Crowd" who did not turn up to vote raises serious eyebrows! Ghanaians should dig into the matter and find out why such a huge number of people decided not to vote, esp. regions said to be NDC's stronghold eg. Volta Region.

I wonder why the EC, when asked to delete names of registrants who used the NHIS cards as IDs said that majority of such people registered through or by the NHIS cards. And as such an act would disenfranchise such a huge number of people. Then they went on to emphasize that it was illegal to remove names of persons who used the NHIS cards from the electoral roll. Majority of 15 Million registered voters means over 8 Million strong registrants huh? But guess what? When the Supreme Court flexed its muscle by ordering the EC to obey its commands, only 56 Thousand were deleted. At every turn the Charlotte Osei-led EC, backed by Amadu Sully (NDC's kingpin) would find excuses to questions Ghanaians put to them.

Ghanaians have seen it all; the kind of low turn out in NDC's stronghold, particularly the Volta Region attests to the fact that lots of foreigners, who had participated in all of Ghana's previous elections at the invitation of the NDC decided to save their skin by abstaining from voting this time around. They're not fools!

They decided not to risk their lives, by crossing over to vote, when vigilante groups in the Volta Region: "Operation Eagle Eye" had warned of mayhem should any foreigner be caught attempting to meddle in Ghana's elections. Interesting! This time nobody showed up.

It's upon this basis or information that the EC should be instructed--maybe through public consensus--to consider compiling a brand new voters register, that would guarantee or safeguard against election fraud and cheating among others.

Elections, are meant to be truly free and fair, esp. when it's conducted well at each and every polling station, as we've been told by Justice William Atuguba, during the election petition filed by NDC leaders.

For a whole Lawyer to be injecting God into our Politics as it has been is not only absurd but scary. Reducing every political sway to divine intervention is another method of refusing responsibility, or claiming exclusive righteousness that the Almighty rewards one on.

That is all balderdash! Let's wait and see if he will not recoup all the monies he spent in this show-boating charity in the few months ahead from the State, one way or another, via his Uncle's Administration.

He would not have done this charity, if he weren't expecting a payback along the line, and so the people would regard his uncle's Government as all so providing and resourceful.

The trumpian angle in Akufo-Addo's win is the fear he engenders among non-Akans as a tribal saber-rattler. Many still believes he is a bigot.

The recent off-taste remark he made by using the archaic and offensive "Simpa.." terminology shows how far back he is in appreciating current ethnic and tribal sensitivities in Ghana. Instead of his cohorts apologizing and citing his age, perhaps, for his failure to feel the bite in that remark, they were charging folks who were complaining with being too politically correct.

That is a typical defense mechanism bigots use. But Ghanaians have come a long way to acknowledge the impropriety of such remarks and views. I am more hesitant to give Atta Akyea a pass because of the blatant insulting use of 'Trokosi' to describe some folks by one of his staunch fellow supporters and relative of Akufo-Addo, Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., in his recent piece chastising Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe.

Once a bigot, always a bigot! These discordant voices in our national efforts to tolerate diversity can hardly be silenced, especially, now that they have their Archdeacon, or should I say Imperial Wizard, in charge of the country.
