Well the idea is to decentralize various Ministries out of Accra. If Ghana is to develop, then it's time to have some of these major govt organizations established elsewhere. Independence day celebrations should also be rotated throughout the major regional capitals. This will encourage other regions to grow. Greater Accra has to machine and too many of government's share of resources yet produces NOTHING!

This group is not serious at all.They should know that the Takoradi port is expanding to commerce gas and oil business and some investors are ready to build another free port for gas and oil business in the Western region.The NDC govt wanted Western region to become the oil hub of West Africa where plans are far ahead in execution.Therefore,it's only logic for Nana Addo to continue the strategic project.In other words,the relocation of GNPC to Takoradi is not political but strategic.By the way,Saltpond started producing oil in the 70s and the Volta basin having oil deposit has Nothing to do with the location of GNPC.Now listen,Western region and Central region produce cocoa more than any region in Ghana but the COCOBOD is in Accra and we are not complaining.Does Accra know how to plant a cocoa seed?Aha.Therefore the nonesense about Volta basin must stop,it's illogical.Is this group telling us that Nana Addo is incompetent or what?Good luck.

The region that produces nothing for Ghana yet wants to have every headquarters in that region. It's time we decentralise so that Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape-Coast, Sunyani, etc will all benefit from what they give to Ghana. Accra gives nothing yet wants to have everything.

The relocation of the GNPC Head Office to the Western region is the greatest decision ever to be made. Service delivery must be brought to the doorstep of the oil and gas industry with industry players right where decisions need to be taken. It has the added advantage of opening upon the Western region. Aside of that, i think the issue of economies of scale also come in here with regards to the industry and the interest of Ghana making the siting of the Head Office of GNPC in the Western Reg, a very good choice.

We could have done all these things long ago,by giving every Regional Capital at least one Ministry,instead putting everything in Accra. How can we develop the whole Country if everything we need is in Accra? Is time we open up,to bring governance to the door steps of the people,for every Ghanaian to be part of Nation building. Nana shouldn't leave it there,after relocating the GNPC to the Western Region,he should weigh some options,and spread the government machinery, to other Regions to relieve Accra of the human traffic. We are in the year 2017,not 1957,we are old enough to be able to handle this.

People must travel a bit to see how expensive buildings, newly constructed roads and whole communities are moved around to MAKE ROOM FOR DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY, EFFICIENCY AND STREAMLINED RESULTS DELIVERY.

If NPP has conducted and completed their findings on the relocation and realised its going to benefit the country STRATEGICALLY, WHY NOT RELOCATE IT? The key thing here is it must benefit the country strategically.

I think Ghanaians must thank God for Nana and his Vice (Nana especially) who have vast international exposure and know what it takes to develop a country.

You all Dim wits who are fussing about GNPC HQ relocation , arguing that because there is potential of oil discovery in the Keta basin , are a bunch of jokers . For starters siting of HQ is usually based on efficiency of service delivery . Stop looking at this move through tribal lenses . HQ siting decisions are not sacrosant.. But for now the focus must be on the western region where oil development is real. When Keta basin or Volta oil are found and there is a need for HQ relocation to ensure efficiency of service, to exploit its potential ,a change would be effected.. At the moment Accra metro is the most inefficient place to do business. We are all excited about the 2018 devolution of political and economic power to the Districts to enhance rapid development . We need to loosen the grip of Accra politically and economically.. The relocation of GNPC HQ must go on. The the International oil companies who are developing the oil potential in the western region demand that for more efficient service and it is also strategic for the development of the region.
So with that said let's move on while we also develop the Volta oil potential.

Every where you look in our Ghanaian life Ewes dominate in proportion to their population. What is this tribal hegymonists and inward looking people then want.? The civil service and the police to managers are all Ewes. The banks and the building trades are dominated by Ewes, yet they feel insecured?
They must shed the inward looking stupidity because no one cares. Ewes, you are not going to loose your identity and culture of voodo. Accept the fact that Ewe will not be the national language. We don't see your stupidity in the GaDangbe, Dagomba, Nzema, who don't care if their language is not universally spoken by Akans. The Akan language will dominate because they are majority per population. You will always be a minority so accept that and stop your Akan hate as it can destroy you. A lot of your women are marring Akans due to your male chuvanistic attitudes.

It is refreshing that for once a politician wants to keep his promises to the electorate and we have all these so-called think tanks asking him to break them!!

If GNPC can be based in Accra and manage its oil activities across the country, then it can do so from Takoradi. Volta Region MAY get oil in the future but it does not have oil now. The Western Region DOES have oil now, so GNPC must move.

What if Volta Region gets oil in the future? GNPC will manage it from Takoradi, just as it currently manages oil in the Western Region from Accra.

The bigger issue that is being missed by the naysayers is that Ghana needs to decentralise. We can't have everything in Accra. Accra is choked/congested - we can't keep up with the demand for housing; sanitation is out of control; traffick is out of control; water, electricity...lots of things are out of control.

Akufo Addo should not stop with GNPC. They should look for other opportunities to relocate organizations to other regions. How about moving the cocoa bureaucracy to the Ashanti, Western or Brong Ahafo region?

Nana, you have the electorate's support for this, please proceed and ignore these "think tankers".

STRANEK you have answered your own mystery.We need to relocate GNPC headquarters to the oil region, Takoradi. If we find oil in Keta then we set up a subsidiary office there. Simple!
