Let me guess what has led to this public snub and humiliation of Oko Vanderpuiye.

Do you recall a couple of years ago when Oko V. hosted an event in Ghana where was given some honour as Africa's best mayor. Now instead of the president or the vice-president being present as they had promised - it had mayors of Africa's major cities mayors in attendance - they sent Hannah Tetteh instead. We remember Rawlings went to bat for Oko, ranting that the absence of the president or his vice amounted to disrespect for the conference and Oko. In the end the Vice President came to relieve Hannah Tetteh willy-nilly or reluctantly.

We all remember the tongue lashing Rawlings received for doing what he did. Fast forward two years and Oko V took a well-dodge instead of going to stand by Rawlings at the 35th anniversary of the 31st December revolution that brought the PNDC and eventually the NDC into being. What you saw there is Oko V getting closer to offer his apologies for missing out and Rawlings shrugging him off that he doesn't want to hear of lame excuses.

Rawlings is seeing Oko V as fair weather friend. Oko just buzz off. The owner of the NDC is about to take his party back and you may end up as one of the casualties.

But who is Rawlings that all must bow before him ? He perhaps need to be told that he is a human being and not God !
Those saying he founded a party , please are you saying when he dies the party should come to an end ?

Parties are not formed or build around persons BUT idealogy. Ideology lives persons die.

The NDC did not lost the elections because Rawlings did not join them. They lost because of several reasons. which has nothing to do with him. In 2012 he stayed away but NDC won. He is no force to reckon with in terms of election victory.

His personality cult has died out , what remains is nothing but nostalgia. He needed to be told.
