This is not big deal. Nana quoted a lot of people and gave credit to many during his well constructed speech. We should listen to the message and not shoot down the messenger. English language was written by someone but we have use those words that we did not create or form in our daily language. Does that mean we are plagiarizing whoever coined those phrases or words? Let's stop being petty and start looking at a brighter horizon. We need a new beggining. Ghana will be 60 years old this year. What can we boast of as a 60 year old country? Look at Malaysia, Indonesia and all of these other countries? We must be proactive and work towards what matters. This should be a new way of thinking for Ghanaians and Africans in general instead of finding petty faults and mistakes with everything. We have work to do and we should all do our part. George Bush is not the originator of that famous speech and he never referenced Woodrow Wilson when he used it because, presumably, 70 years had passed! Whether you like it or not, Nana Addo is our President and we are proud of him. John Dramani Mahama was rejected massively by Ghanaians by over a million votes! Nothing will bring him back. All without making reference to the 'original' author. That to me emphasises the importance of those words. While not 'condoning' plagiarism, I guess what matters is whether or not those words are applicable in contemporary Ghanaian politics, and can consequently make a significant change to enhance progress. These NDC guys should stop these pettiness and concentrate on the 'prison terms' awaiting them. Per the laws on plagiarism, President Akuffo Addo of Ghana has not committed any offence, since the original author, Woodrow Wilson died over 70 years ago. If indeed, these NDC guys are that learned and interested in academic work, then they should read around what constitutes plagiarism and avoid these petty jealousies.

How can he inspire Ghanaians to stop copying everything foreign and start thinking independently and creating/inventing our own. How can he inspire Ghanaians to stop thinking they are inferior to Americans or Europeans, when he himself along with his speech writers don't have confidence in themselves: hence plucking speeches from George Bush's and Bill Clinton's inaugural addresses respectively. And to do it infront of all the foreign dignitaries assembled is a big disgrace for Ghana. This is inexcusable!
