This part of the constitution must be amended or reinterpreted properly to save the few bungalows we inherited from the colonial master. Mahama had been scheming to hijack and own that house ever since he occupied it in 2009, and should have vacated it in 2012 when he stole the verdict of Ghanaians and became the president fraudulently but did not.

Mr. Mahama is actually not different from his rogue Ambassador at Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Sinare, who started parking and sending cares and furniture from the Embassy to Egypt after the humiliating and painful defeat of their loot and share party.

All along he had targeted this Corporate Guest House redesignated as the Vice President's Official Residence during Aliu Mahama's time. The State will accommodate as stipulate by the constitution and everybody agrees to that but you cannot pick and choose as this is a bad precedence and we shouldn't as a nation encourage. There's too much power concentrate in Accra and the better we as a nation encourage statesmen and businesses to move to the other regions to open up those places. In USA you can find Bush the father in Florida Bush the son in Texas Bill Clinton in New York the Obama's in the west coast. I pray that Pres Nana Addo's administration see to it that wealth is spread to the other regions. How about NPP building their ultra- modern HQ in the northern part of Ghana. All US presidents for example, move into their private homes after leaving office: George Bush moved back to his ranch in Texas, the Clintons purchased their own home in New York and the Obamas just acquired a private property in Washington DC. It should not be the role of the government to provide them with houses. This is very bad practice, and we should stop it forthwith - - by a constitutional amendment if necessary. Indeed the practice of building houses or flats for members of the executive and judiciary and even parliamentarians should be brought to an end. True to form, Mahama is engaged in another act of extortion. Other ex presidents have done the same thing, but that does not make it right.

If ex presidents are given new houses after retirement, it calls for a concern. Ghana is a third world country and it cannot afford such luxurious packages. Whilst they were in office, they were awarded gifts and used their positions to acquire wealth, why would the state award them more after retirement? Any president who will ask for these packages is not for the people. A selfless president who feels for the people will realize the amount of poverty the masses are facing and will not do that. Is Mahama saying he cannot afford to build his own house? What is the difference between a civil servant and an ex president? In the western world, they are both civil servant and when they retire, they both receive pension. Why is it that african leaders are so greedy and pathetic? They should rather care more about their people than demanding such luxuries since the poverty rate is higher than the western world. All they care about is what they and their families will acquire and never look at the fate of the people. All they do is borrow and borrow and most of that money goes into their pockets. They promise heaven when they need votes but after they ascend on the seat, they look at their own well being. When are we going to learn and stop voting for these people? Presidents are the highest paid individuals on the land and if that is not enough, then there is a big concern. We have not heard of any who will care for the people's well being and forfeit their salaries. That is the one we should vote for. The one that will work for nothing should be a leader we should vote in office. I am very disappointed in their requests after all these salaries, gifts and what was pocketed back door, they still needs more? If an ordinary civil servant who does not earn as much as a president is able to build his own house and move in, why can't presidents do the same? Are they both not civil servants? The Constitution needs to be changed since the country cannot afford these luxuries. Please contact and put pressure on your local MP'S to change these laws, otherwise we should embark on big time demonstration since we voted for them to work on our behalf not to fill their pockets. We cannot afford to give them a luxurious life whilst we cannot afford 3 square meals a day. Ghana belongs to all of us and we have to put our foot down so that everyone has to be treated equally because that is how God designed it. Presidents, Ex presidents, Politician, please have some dignity and stop the ridiculous request and using your position to acquire wealth. All men were created equal. You promised to work for the betterment of the people hence the votes. Be honourable to your words!. God is watching! Do the right thing before you lose your souls because there is a greater JUDGE who sees beyond where any human sees and he will Judge you according to your works. A word to the wise is enough. If you have conscience, you will be accountable and truthful to the people and to God. Do not acquire wealth on this earth and lose your soul. Mahama needs to vacate that house and he should not be given any office. He gets paid as a President and that should be enough. After leaving office, he should fend for himself as everyone else. There shouldn't be any special treatments. I remembered Jake was taken to court over his house and Nii Lantey Vanderpuye occupied that bungalow at ridge. Ghana is too poor to afford these packages when some towns has no proper water, electricity, schools, hospitals etc. People are dying for lack of basic needs which every human being should have. After 50+ years of independence, we are marking time at one place whilst people are dying since the medical facility closest to them is more than 100km. School kids are crawling on the floor and you want a house of your choice plus an office? Do you have the fear of God in you at all John Mahama? You ought to be ashamed of yourself!

On the controversial hijacking of the official residence for the vice president is making our airwaves.

In my humble opinion, I think its of greed posture and not having the interest of our country at heart. if all that retire as top public officials should decide their retirement packages for themselves our country in the next generation will have nothing to boat off.

Even if this was approved by the 6th Parliment from all indication it appeared the hands of the then opposition were tired to the back to come out with this decision.

You posture is not a good precedence please. kindly let the state decide for your retirement home and office.

Now he has the audacity to request the house he never vacated (which he should have four years ago). He was not entitled to live in that house four the past four years i.e since he became president. If ex presidents are given new houses after retirement, it calls for a concern. Ghana is a third world country and it cannot afford such luxurious packages. Whilst they were in office, they were awarded gifts and used their positions to acquire wealth, why would the state award them more after retirement? Any president who will ask for these packages is not for the people. A selfless president who feels for the people will realize the amount of poverty the masses are facing and will not do that. Is Mahama saying he cannot afford to build his own house? What is the difference between a civil servant and an ex president? In the western world, they are both civil servant and when they retire, they both receive pension. Why is it that african leaders are so greedy and pathetic? They should rather care more about their people than demanding such luxuries since the poverty rate is higher than the western world. All they care about is what they and their families will acquire and never look at the fate of the people. All they do is borrow and borrow and most of that money goes into their pockets. They promise heaven when they need votes but after they ascend on the seat, they look at their own well being. When are we going to learn and stop voting for these people? Presidents are the highest paid individuals on the land and if that is not enough, then there is a big concern. We have not heard of any who will care for the people's well being and forfeit their salaries. That is the one we should vote for. The one that will work for nothing should be a leader we should vote in office. I am very disappointed in their requests after all these salaries, gifts and what was pocketed back door, they still needs more? If an ordinary civil servant who does not earn as much as a president is able to build his own house and move in, why can't presidents do the same? Are they both not civil servants? The Constitution needs to be changed since the country cannot afford these luxuries. Please contact and put pressure on your local MP'S to change these laws, otherwise we should embark on big time demonstration since we voted for them to work on our behalf not to fill their pockets. We cannot afford to give them a luxurious life whilst we cannot afford 3 square meals a day. Ghana belongs to all of us and we have to put our foot down so that everyone has to be treated equally because that is how God designed it. Presidents, Ex presidents, Politician, please have some dignity and stop the ridiculous request and using your position to acquire wealth. All men were created equal. You promised to work for the betterment of the people hence the votes. Be honourable to your words!. God is watching! Do the right thing before you lose your souls because there is a greater JUDGE who sees beyond where any human sees and he will Judge you according to your works. A word to the wise is enough. If you have conscience, you will be accountable and truthful to the people and to God. Do not acquire wealth on this earth and lose your soul. Mahama needs to vacate that house and he should not be given any office. He gets paid as a President and that should be enough. After leaving office, he should fend for himself as everyone else. There shouldn't be any special treatments. I remembered Jake was taken to court over his house and Nii Lantey Vanderpuye occupied that bungalow at ridge. Ghana is too poor to afford these packages when some towns has no proper water, electricity, schools, hospitals etc. People are dying for lack of basic needs which every human being should have. After 50+ years of independence, we are marking time at one place whilst people are dying since the medical facility closest to them is more than 100km. School kids are crawling on the floor and you want a house of your choice plus an office? Do you have the fear of God in you at all John Mahama? You ought to be ashamed of yourself!

The whole saga is stupid. I think Mahama had made up his mind to keep that house the first day he stepped into it. Why didn't he move out when he became president? This means every president will have to keep his/former residence as part of retirement package. Do we have vacant land to be constructing such houses in downtown Accra? I think the current executives must be in the downtown, low traffic areas to help their commuting. These politicians are taking us for granted. Today is Mahama, tomorrow is someone else. They are one people: selfish and greedy.

We cannot be paying for more and more Bungalows to be built for new Officials, year in and year out. Meanwhile, these folks are the highest paid elites in employment outside private businesses. And they are the ones who hijack all modes of directing financial opportunities around to enrich themselves beyond what they really earn.

We still have not received any judicious explanations or justification for all the Government Real Estate dissipation in the previous Administrations, and we are adding more to the same problem. Who do these folks think they are?

Why should we, the ordinary folks, have to work all our lives and struggle to own a small shelter over heads with our scanty salaries, and be taxed to dole so much opulence on these crooked Politicians?

Everyone appointed to Government jobs must find their own residence. The worst expenditure we must make is to subsidize their accommodation cost only when their tenure is still active.

Is Mahama not aware of the wind of change blowing in Tanzania? The president went out to join the general public to clean the streets, No minister can travel abroad without the permission of the president. In short, he has found many ways to cut down gov spending and is using the money to improve conditions in hospitals, schools, roads, etc.
Gone are the days when men ate the breast of the chicken and gave the legs to the women and children. A new day has arrived in Africa, any nation that does not put the interest of women and their children ahead does not prosper, so Mahama do not be stupidly greedy, move out now and make some sacrifices by refusing a home from poor Ghana because your family is one of the richest in the nation. Enough is enough.
