She stressed that parliament has approved former President John Dramani Mahama’s request to maintain the residence as his retirement package."

After all Mahama is an ex-president who deserves respect and decency. He has a constitutional right to an accommodation and nobody is asking him to rent a house. Wise decisions and clarifications must be crafted into the constitution to avoid repetition of such embarrassing confusion. The constitution must categorically state that official residences of presidents and Vice Presidents shall never under any circumstances be sold to anyone. For example, ex -British presidents nor ex-US presidents can request to keep either the naval observatory residence for Vice Presidents nor the White House, and the same thing goes to #10 Downing Street. We must grow up and stop these nonsense.

That property was given to him as the vice president at the time and as he did not move out Amissah-Arthur had to be accommodated in another property. Technically, the property in question is for the serving vice president, so it is rather embarrassing that JDM is dragging this issue! In a country like Ghana where accommodation is hard to come by, especially in Accra, you as a president who should show an example chose to occupy two residences. It is a shame and nobody could talk.
