The rich Akan cloth has its place, but this is not supposed to be a cultural display or a showcasing of traditional attire. The cloth it simply inappropriate and undiplomatic in the global diplomatic context – where you can’t show chest hair, armpit hair or an ugly toe/toenail (wearing ‘chao-chao’). For those referring to Zulu culture, Mandela didn’t wear it in the public or official domain and neither does Zuma. The ‘danta’ is a traditional attire for some Ghanaian tribes; be honest, would you recommend a president from that tribe to wear the ‘danta’ publicly and in official situations? When Nkrumah had wear the cloth, he saw the need to improvise and wore a ‘jumper’ underneath.
