Most Ghanaians are ignorant and gullible. I am listening to a Ghanaian who claim to be a lawyer but does not know that there is an Act call Workmens Compensation Act. That act covers employees in both state and private employment, who got injured or dead during and in the cause of their employment.
By this act an employers fill forms 1 and 2 of the act. The former is to be given directly to the Labour Department, whiles that later is send to the medical officer who, as is the case treated the injured workman on the day of injury. There is usually first and second medical report by the attending medical officer. The first describe the nature of the injury on the day it was sustained. The second describe the degree of incapacity or disfigurement at a stage it is seen that can not improve than it was when the second medical report is given.
It is an injured workman or the relatives of a person who head during and in the cause of his employment who can decide not to claim the compensation under the act.
When he or they decide so the matter is taken to court and the judge decides on the amount of compensation. In the case of a person who dead during and in the cause of his or here employment the compensation is paid at the court, whiles that concerning injuries, if not disputed in the court is paid by the Labour Department.
The act is made in such a way that both the employer and the employee decide the accident was not caused by any of them, and as if it is an act of nature. It is made in such way that employers do not accuse their workers who got injured during and in the cause of their employment of intentionally causing injury to themselves.
There is therefor a formulae according to which compensations are paid and are stated in the same act.
So no one can hold the state responsible for an injury or death of a worker during and in the cause of his employment to another employer, either than the state.
The state can be held liable only in the matter has to do with the work of a subcontractor, whiles the state is the main contractor. Like the Ghana Highways or the Ghana Water Company doing a work on their own, not involving a main contractor, but hired the service of a subcontractor which does not have the means to pay the compensation, then the liability falls on the main contractor.
In the case of the MELCOM disaster it is the employers who is liable to pay the compensation, not pending on the form it takes and not the state.
So from the above anyone who is not satisfied with the compensation he or she is been paid will sue MELCOM and not the state.
Martin Amidu has become a rabid dog on the loose and must be ignored by all right thinking Ghanaians. Let those who are of the view that they are themselves rabid dogs continue to praise him.

Indeed, the planned total stealing of the Vice President's Residence of the Republic of Ghana was to be the icing on the cake, in lifting the trophy of grand thievery high by Mahama in his lawless, corrupt and irresponsible run at the helm of affairs of this country.
With his brother looting state bank ala merchantbankgate-lets maintain the status quo ante, coupled with the corrupt deals infused with outright thievery such as AMERI, the pilfering of the residence was to complete the trifecta of total dominance of Mahama's looting behaviour on the altar of officially orchestrated and sanctioned brazen and wanton crass thievery.
The primary school kids were right about 3 years ago and it is for them, for which reason Mahama must never be allowed to run off into the Sunset with his looting behaviour to further traumatize and damage them forever about public service and leadership.
