The Gonja Youth have a point though about further balkanisation. I am not against the splitting per se, even that of my own VR, but it must be taking into account done not only certain human geography indices but also socio-historical factors.

Count the developments you had under Mahama who is a Gonja.
NPP idea behind this new regions is bringing distant government closer to people and hence rapid developments in the rural areas.

The northern regional capital was moved from Gambaga to Tamale so if there is any compensation a newly created region should have the capital at Walewale or Nalerigu and I propose Wale2 for all the stasts fit it. I know Mamprusis and Dagombas are ethnically brothers and sisters but for this one it will be too much to have both Yendi and Tamale.

Every Asante bears allegiance to the golden stool and wants to be under the leadership of Otumfuor. Tell me which other region in Ghana can say that? If it becomes necessary per the population, it will be Northern Ashanti and Southern Ashanti regions all under one King, Otumfuor. In that case too we shall cede only because of development. Greater Accra is just populous but not so big to be divided. Unlike Ashantis the region is not only for Gas. You have Damgbes and possibly other too but the land isn't so big for demarcation. Besides, it is the capital of the country- undivided.

Again they occupy about half of the present northern region.
I hope d good people of d country wiil throw away their political lenses n stick to d truth, if there should be any region to be created out of d n/r it should be done in a way to have d capital within d Gonjaland. We cannot continue to relegate others to d background to continue to make others superior.

Every body have right to defene his or her self, land,or property.but to me there is nothing wrong of dividing Gonjas to be part of northern region and eastern corridor region

Some people simply don't understand the issues at stake. Even though Ghana is an independent jurisdiction, we can not rule out the fact that we also have to be dynamic.
There seem to be a subtle attempt to create some of these regions bases on tribal lines. The Ahafos are ethnically ashantis hence that region is going to be created based on the age long wish of the Ahafos to disassociate themselves from the perceived subservience to the Brongs. It is therefore very clear to all observers that the proposed Ahafos region is purely to satisfy a tribal agenda
What has to be considered in the case of Gonjas is the massive land that they occupy. In fact, Salga district alone is bigger than the entire up per east region whiles the West Gonja district is almost the size of The upper west region. The entire gonjaland is almost two thirds of the Northern region.
We can further go across our borders to make good examples of nations that are tiny in size and population yet are doing better that Ghana. Countries such as Mauritius, Cape Verde, Bahrain, Singapore, Seychelles, Barbados, Trinidad and TOBAGO, Bahamas and even the Gambia are smaller than the Salaga District. We can not Base the creation of regions on population because it could only call for the splitting of Ashanti region into 2 or 3 more regions.
From the above therefore, it is only administratively prudent to have the northern region split into 3 for the Gonjas to also have their fair share of development.
