This is the only way... Under act 5 of the constitution, at least 50% of the people in the region to be separated must vote on the issue, and out of the total votes at least 80% must vote (yes) in favor of the decision l.... ...

He actually needs 40% of the voters not 80%.
At least 50% of the region must vote and from that 50% he has to get 80% .
This means he needs 40% of the voter population

If you were using absolute numbers then you can estimate the 80 per cent of that quantified 50 per cent plus. However, you cant apply the percentage on the percentage like that! If so then why didnt the framers just say 40 pe ...

If so then why didnt the framers just say 40 per cent of those who vote? You must gain 50 per cent voting rate and 80 per cent approval rate! That is a total order because those who will turn out to vote will include at least 40 per cent opposition just for shege reasons!

Realistically, there is no need for any further division of the 10 regions we now have in Ghana. Divide along ethic lines and rule is dangerous for our maiden democracy.

Realistically, there is no need for any further division of the 10 regions we now have in Ghana. Divide along ethic lines and rule is dangerous for our maiden democracy.

What needs to be done is legislators to consensually pass a bill to increase the governing cycle as from 2020 to a five years period which makes sense to enable the ruling party enough time to execute their programes. UK does it and I think that should be considered and my humble opinion the best way forward instead of fractionation of some regions. The problem is not the size of the regions but rather the limited time. The more regions or bloating of it will lead to more loss of oversight and more corruption. What Ghana needs is streamlining of its ministries and more accountability. That's all folks!!!!

Creating more regions will only undermine national unity and cohesion, and engender more bureaucracy.

The Ashanti region was split into 2 by the CPP in 1959 leading to the creation of the Brong-Ahafo Region

However, dissecting the whole gamut and range of issues for which reason such a proposal would be on the table would not be a wasted exercise, as it would be an altogether educative process.

The Western region is the economic powerhouse of our country - all our principal exports emanate from there.

What is urgently required is reconstruction of the /Western rail line from Takoradi to Kumasi. This would open up urban markets for agricultural produce from remote rural areas, bringing down food prices in Takoradi and Kumasi. Transportation of export commodities such as timber, bauxite, manganese and cocoa to Takoradi harbour would be facilitated boosting exports. So would travel between Takoradi and Kumasi. Heavy vehicular Traffic would be taken off our roads, preventing accidents and deterioration of our roads.

Say No to the proposed split of the Western region!!!!!!!!!

ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. What they need to do is to compact the small villages in order to develop them to larger communities with housing and sewage systems. That is the way forward to eradication of malaria.
