Farewell to the Queen of Asanteman. Your contribution to the Ashanti Region was exemplary. It was through your valiant efforts and the effort of your son - Otumfuo Osei Tutu; Krobea Asante Kotoko - that the Ashanti Region has made tremendous progress in education.

For the past 8 years, Kumasi has always come first in the SHS exams on a city-by-city basis beating other strong educational cities such as Cape Coast and Accra. A recent survey indicated that 80% of students in state universities in Ghana are from 3 regions: Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern Region. As a young boy growing up in Kumasi, the city had only a few schools such as Prempeh, Owass and St. Louis that really excelled in national exams. Now the situation is completely different in Kumasi with a larger number of schools doing very well in the SHS exams e.g. Anglican SHS, Kumasi High, Kumasi Girls, Kumasi Academy, Yaa Asantewaa and Asanteman SHS.

As a man who grew up in Kumasi and now has an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from an Ivy League university in the U.S.A., I can safely say that your influence as the Queen in encouraging education in Ashanti has paid off.

We, the educated young men from Kumasi who are pursing professional careers in western countries would like to extend our gratitude to the late Asantehemaa and her son, Otumfuo for transforming the educational fortunes of the Ashanti Region.

GES, banks and other institutions chose to close. No directive was given to govt institutions from Manhyia so don't blame the palace for the closure. They were free to operate without any problem

After all, we are all Ghanaians and we should all respect our kings and do everything we can to inculcate our culture in the mindset of the future generations.

No chief has any authority to enforce any law upon anyone. It is the governing authorities alone (including the police and municipal authorities), who have that power in our constitution.

When you respect your chief to the point where you are willing to defend his infringing the constitution, then there is a fundamental problem with that respect. Until Ghanaians owe their allegiance first to Ghana and it's constitution, before their chiefs, this nation cannot move forward. That is why America is the the greatest nation presently....because of their allegiance to their constitution.
