It appears the top military echelon has being politicized. There's no reason for every incoming president to select his own chief of defense staff. The CDS should be appointed by the president and confirmed by parliament to a set number of years so that their term in office overlaps the president's. This will prevent the office from being politicized as the president gets to chose his on CDS.

Maj. Gen. Akwah is 100% fit for CDS appointment. He deserves it. I worked with him in UN Peacekeeping Operation in Cambodia as Second in Command (2ic). The Officer stands tall among most of the Officers I have worked with. Some Officers normally use UN Operations to enrich themselves when they are made chairmen of CIF committees to ensure that soldiers safely get all the items they order from peacekeeping missions. (Maj. Akwah) by that time been the 2ic ensured that soldiers got their balances of all the monies they paid for CIF over-head charges. That action of Maj. Gen. Akwah hadn’t happened in any UN Peacekeeping operations at that time before. He respects all ranks. He is sociable and understands soldiers’ problems. He is a father and professional in his job.
I wish him congratulations in advance.
