Normally aliens in a countries do not have any form of ID from the host country since they have their passports.

I hope the minority MPs can stop this dangerous move. I call it "DANGEROUS" because it would keep the NDC in perpetual opposition. NDC always relies on foreigners to win vote (Togoless, and Burkinabes) so if the National ID project becomes successful where can they find voters to vote for them? I am of the strong conviction that the Minority MPS would raise concerns about it and try to kill it.

The speed with which the NPP seeks to implement the Nat ID only shows that a lot has already been done to enable the NPP implement this in its first year in office.

I am aware that all the needed infrastructure for the implementation has been done by the JDM-NDC administration.
Two state of the act data centers have already been build. One in Accra and a back-up in Kumasi. The specific card to be issued out and all the stakeholders to benefit from the data have been consulted.

The equipment to be used and the mode of card issue have been planned and secured.

My only concern now is that, the NDC will keep mute on their contribution to this important project only for NPP to implement and start making loud noise about it and take all the glory. Just like the NHIS.

NDC please set the record straight.

NDUOM WAS FULLY IN CHARGED, HOW DID HE RAISE FUNDS FOR HIS NUMEROUS BUSINESSES IN GHANA AFTER WORKING ONLY IN GOVERNMENT. P.V. Atta Mills sacked Prof Ken Attafuah and put Larry Adjetey in charge of the NIA board when NDC took over power in 2009! DO you remember the Alien Compliance Order that expelled undocumented aliens from Ghana? Kuffour tried to continue from where Busia left behind but he could not complete it. I hope the Akuffo-Addo would be able to do it. It is long overdue in Ghana.

What National Identification seeks to do, is to take count of all persons who live in the jurisdiction, called Ghana. Both Ghanaian nationals and foreigners. This will help the government plan for development and other related issues, including security. One of the major recurring issue of the identity of the Ghanaian, when it comes to national elections, may be solved by the successful implementation of the programme. The usual hue and cry over this rather sentive election issue may not occur again. However, there should be very strident laws against persons who would attempt to register as citizens. The fines should be stiff, both long custodial sentence and deportation. There should be option for monetary fines.

By the methodlogy, I mean the situation where staff from NIA would travel from town to town to register people IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

The one and and only effective way to register people would be to open registration offices at EVERY DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION that would capture birth and death data and also capture the initial data for National ID acquisition. This is simply because, National ID data acquisition is not a STATIC project - it is a permanent process as every single day, one or the other citizen would have to register/renew ID, some child would be born into the system, some others may depart us and.. and.. and..

Can common sense explain to us WHY some people would travel from Accra to register others in Sekondi/Tadi, Kumasi, Navrongo, Otwe-Bewe_At3 etc? This is possible, BUT 1000% inefficient. And that won't simply work!!

In fact, in countries where ID systems have been successful, citizens are registered IN THE TOWNS and EVEN SUBURBS of their towns and NOT at district level.

In the town that I currently live, there are EIGHT (8) offices where citizens would register. Citizens living within a set of ZIP/POSTAL codes would register at a particular office and no other office.
