The president can delegate his powers. The letter could have come from the president, the executive secretary, the communications director, etc. Ghana has an amorphous governance structure.

Adwoa, this can't be an illegality. It's more of a moral issue. If it were an illigality most Ghanaian lawyers would have gone to court or filed a motion at Supreme Court for interpretation of the law.

Minister designates firing CEOs has happened anytime there is change in government. I personally don't agree with it, and most lawyers don't, but our constitution allows it, provided they do that as the president's representative. Once the dismissal letter quotes the relevant sessions of the law and the person who signs the dismissal letter is implied to be acting on behalf, or on the orders, of the president, there is nothing you can do.

It's more of a moral issue and not an illegality. It's morally wrong for the president, and for that matter his nominees, to be firing CEOs the way it has always happened when there is a change in government.

What can Asaga pinpoint as his achievements that made life better for Ghanaians? I know of none. All I remember were the incessant increases in petroleum product prices. No one should feel sorry for these guys.
