The king or chief's wife in Asante has no formal legal role in the ruling of the kingdom or village, unlike in Europe where she will be the queen.

The ohemaa in our culture is a matrilineal blood and clan relative of the chief. Since calling her a queen will be a misnomer in the English language (she cannot be his wife), we have settled for queen mother even though she may not necessarily be his mother.

Everyone in Ghana wants to go abroad, U all have relatives that live there, ask them what they thinks about the way U people think. They know U are still primitive but are unwilling to tell U because U will never agree.
If we want progress, we must move some of the old traditions to the museums. We have to learn from the civilized world and do away with institutions which do not promote freedom and justice for all including women and children.

Asante is a Region not a kingdom according to Ghana's constitution, and these buffoons and inept media miscreants should stop referring to Asante Region as kingdom. Ghana has 11 regions - no kingdom. Ghana is governed by a Republican Constitution, and there is no kingdom in a Republic.
