That section can only become operational when the masses elect those who are now appointed as per the relevant portion of the local government act which Mahama sought to circumvent by entrenching his appointees on the incoming govt. So putting the cart before the horse will not work in this matter.

If Mahama wanted to take it out, why didn't he do it in January of 2009 but just about 2 months ago when defeat waa staring John Mahama in the face heavily and embracing him so tightly with no breathing space he removed that section?
Haruna must go back and defend why they took it out instead of running away from defending the indefensible act they did just about two months ago.

It is very sad that some would bend in supporting that more power should be given to the presidency instead of institutions. Gradually we are going to end up creating dictators if we go this direction. If we want a strong and prosperous nation it should be one where no one is above the law, something which is possible only under competent and independent institutions. Power is good but absolute power corrupts absolutely. May God help us all!
