Have you not heard of the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Hastings? All these places are tourist attractions.

Kulungungu is a site of historic importance - an attempt on President Nkrumah's life led to the murder of the six-year old girl presenting a bouquet to President Nkrumah, and 11 other people including children.

It is important to preserve the location of the assassination attempt for posterity as a stark reminder of the damage political violence does to innocent communities.

Kulungungu is important in understanding Ghanaian political history. This was a dastardly attempt to assassinate President Nkrumah. He was injured, but a six-year old girl presenting him with a bouquet was killed together with 11 other people, including children.

The perpetrators were the Matemeho, predecessors of the NPP.

Now, imagine Nana Addo is going to hold durber somewhere in Ghana. Who do you think will be tasked to prepare where he will sit etc? NDC or NPP and if something happens who should be blamed?

In those days, the government has control over the radio station which was GBC and nothing else so any news the government puts out is accepted without any challenge. What about today?

Right now let Nana come out with any news and people will dig to find out whether it is true or not. Kulungugu was the work of those who were against Nkrumah and not UP. Do you know that those who were arrested concerning that bombing were put before the court but were all acquitted for lack of evidence and Nkrumah sacked most of the judges for not ruling against those who were arrested. Think.

As well there should be remembrance day for the June 4 and December 31 victims, if that is how Ghana wants to dig into the past. I think it is a good idea.
