Their reason is, it will create competition and effective decentralization.

They work beyond the control of govts and human lives are just fuel for them to make more money for a few, hence only 1 percent owns about 80 percent of the world's wealth.

Secondly, Ghana has been decentralizing for years and we are achieving that without creating new regions.

In fact, the splitting of Upper Volta into Upper East Upper West has not changed the fortunes of that Region significantly.
Rather it has been the political power house of the NDC till this last elections.

NPP can go ahead and create the regions for politician gains, but like the NDC, they will eventually catch the apathy cool.

OUR POLITICIANS ARE THE WORSE AFRICA HAVE HAD SINCE INDEPENDENCE. THEY ARE GOOD AT BARGAINING THE FUTURE OF AFRICA AWAY LIKE CHEAP SECOND CLOTHES AND SECONDLY, GOOD AT THE DIVIDE AND RULE TACTICS.

You wouldn't have done nun before your time. You simply have to come up with ideas of how this can be done to the benefit of all Ghanaians. The north, upper east and west can be divided because most of the chiefs there have their own power over their lands, the lines just have to be made properly so tribes are not divided. I am from the northern region and I am in full support of anything that is going to bring development for my people. The Ashanti region can't be touched currently because it has sub-Chiefs under one paramountcy, dividing it will automatically decrease otumfuo's paramountcy. We always don't have to do propaganda when ideas are brought up, we Jx have to see how best we can develop them to the benefit of "THE PEOPLE".

As a nation we spend far too much money on running government machinery and we need to look for ways of running a leaner and more efficient administration . The V8s , free fuel ,bungalows for all these appointees who add little value is one of the causes of the problems we find ourselves in for now. The new administration must think through this proposal carefully before making a decision .

Does creation of New Regions not a redundant exercise?
After taking power, the PNDC launched a decentralization plan in December 1982 designed to restructure government machinery to promote democracy and greater efficiency. The plan proposed a three-tier system of local government to replace the four-tier system established in 1978. The District Assembly was to be the highest political and administrative authority in each district, with deliberative, executive, and legislative powers; it was responsible for creation of the two lower-level tiers, town or area councils and unit committees, within its jurisdiction.
The functions of the regional council included the formulation and the coordination of programs through consultation with district assemblies in the region. The council was responsible for harmonizing these programs with national development policies and priorities, and for monitoring, implementing, and evaluating programs and projects within the region.
Now that Nana Addo’s administration is creating monitoring and evaluation and planning ministries which were the only saved responsibility of the regional council, do we really need more regions to do what?
Regional councils do not further the course of decentralization as planed in the 1992 constitution but just a projection of centralized power. “Regions have no budgetary authority, cannot tax or collect taxes, cannot make laws. All development programs and projects are deliberated upon and approved at the district assemblies. Regional councils have no mentions in the district assembly common fund formula.
We are not federation where regions were established on any tradition or historic heritage we want to keep. Apart from Ashanti Region that has a traditional foundation do not even involve that tradition in the allocation of development projects or resource allocation.
The Districts has increasingly benefited from the decentralization of government ministries and from the establishment of district assemblies in 1989. What we should be thinking now is how to complete the devolution process of the government ministries and government services and strengthen the local government structures below the district assemblies. I am not a politician, just keeping it real.

DOES THE APPOINTMENT OF THIRTY SIX MINISTERS(36) IN A POVERTY STRICKEN GHANA MAKES EVEN A SENSE.

OPAYIN CUDJOE, BE OBJECTIVE AND TRY TO ASK YOURSELF, WHY THE NATION DO NOT STILL HAVE INNOVATIVE AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS, TECHNICAL KNOW AND QUALITY SKILLED WORKFORCE(PRECISION ARTISANS AND TECHNICIANS)TOTURN THE WHEELS OF INDUSTRIALIZATION.

THESE SETBACKS ARE THINGS FOR YOU TO TOUCH IN THE COUNTRY AND NOT AKUFFO ADDOS CREATION OF NEW REGIONS.

HE CAN CREATE THOUSANDS, AT THE END, IT IS ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT WHICH THE VULNARABLE EXPECTS FROM

Does he have an idea about what challenges people living in the regions targeted for repartitioning have to go through to access services in their respective regional capitals? If his ignorance is a bliss for him, he must refrain from foisting it on others.It is usually better to shit your mouth and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Cudjoe is right. Nana doesn't need new regions to be effective. Ministers are just expensive figureheads and don't run the day-to-day ops of the country but the civil servants do. Besides too many duplicate efforts and waste ...

Volta as a region can only boast of two or three factories which two are lying in the northern Volta.
come ton think of it, do we asked ourselves the question of "why the regional capital was moved from Keta to Ho?"
If for any reason Volta region must be partitioned, based on the same reason and move the capital to either Hohoe, Jasikan or Krachie. Volts region have been surviving even for centuries now with these mix ethnics. Mr. President, please Leave Volta alone. The resources that you intend to put in this creating of region agenda can be channel into the job creation instead.
