Unfortunately unlearned and uninformed citizens like you Lori vote for public office holders because of their looks. In spite of his so-called good looks John Mahama will most likely go down in history as the worst and most corrupt President ever. In the 1992 General Elections most Ghanaians chose Jerry John Rawlings over Professor Adult Boahen and handed him the Presidency on a silver platter because they claimed he was more handsome than his opponent. We spent 8 wasted years under his presidency. If we look into ourselves to probe our depths, if we examined our basic motives and desires, we'd find a swamp of evil: corrupt, selfish, low self-esteem and full of hate. We can only be at peace when we thoughtfully determine a course of action and a world view that's compatible.
Finally there's nothing wrong with the President's height because that's the average Ghanaian height.

For this all important national issue, I fully support the President position to curb this nuisance behavior breeding in our country! Why? That selfish Ghanaian mentality of money-making without due regard to the environment is shameful and appalling. If our forefathers had degraded this land to the extend of depriving us our livelihood, how would we have survived in these hash economic times? We still haven't accepted the fact that AGRICULTURE is a noble profession and that could help alleviate our poverty stricken status! We still can't feed ourselves; a situation that provides a big employment opportunity for the youth! Do you know how much a tuber of yam cost in the United States? Think of the numerous ways we can process our yams locally, yam chips, fufu etc, etc! For plantain, it's uncountable. We don't even have plantain "apem" on US market. Think of the foreign exchange one could make by entering US market with "Apem"
Let's open our minds far and wide and come up with pragmatic solutions to our problems and stop relying on government for only white color jobs. The pressure must be on government though, to create the badly needed resources to attract these galamsey operators to the very farmlands they're destroying to till the land for cash instead of destroying them for cash. How do you expect foreigners to respect your rich God-given lands, if you don't give a damn about it! Posterity will never forgive those who callously ignore this important warning!

President call is in the right direction and those chiefs known to be in bed with illegal miners popularly known as galamsey miners must put immediate end to their activities. However, it is also strongly suspected that some of the galamsey operators are in bed with local Police command in the areas of their operations hence attempts by some Nananom to get police support to eject illegal miners from their areas has not been successful as the Police refuse to take action even when they are provided with evidence of the activities of those illegal miners! The recent shake up in the Police should not be limited to the regional command levels but to be extended across and down to the district levels!

This galamsey activities is worse to our environment. If Nana doesn't compel Parliament to put a stop to it by extincting its activities, as someone said, in about 30years time, Ghana will become like Burkina Faso or any desert country. It's a shame to have our forest and water bodies with beautiful species in them destroyed by illiterate chiefs, money-drunk people in topmost positions etc. Do you know what thick forest,rivers,streams and other components in the environment does for us? Insecticide spraying in farms and chemical applications should even stop. Forest with trees, heavy timber, woods and leaves does to our water bodies, ourselves as a people and oppositely what it does to water bodies? The waters don't try up despite harmattan and the trees become green and fresh also. It helps food crops to grow well and makes the land fertile too. A rich tropical zone indeed. All our major forest are being invaded by illegal timber cutting firms and water bodies destroyed by galamsey and fish hunters by poring chemical into streams to get fishes. These are bad practices.
