Ghana Airways was ruined by a Ghana attitude of abusing and not zealously taken care of national assets.

Even Rawlings for all his ignorance and selfishness kept it running.

NPP's attempt to experiment with it and putting it into private hands was the needle in the coffin and even the corrupt Ghana Airways staff saw it coming and actually offered to re invest their corrupt money as shares to keep it going but Kufuor's govt did not take their offer.

Do you know Ghana Airways had lots of houses and businesses home and abroad that all went with it and hence jobs were lost if not revenue.

I feel sorry for people like you who can not think far but are buried in tribal politics and only see your blood and not others.

TOGO / BENIN was VISA FREE till 1996 because the Germans still liked and TRUSTED Ewes as a former colony.

Nigerians have personal issues among themselves but not the way, we and especially the NPP have destroyed the image of Ghana these last few years.

Kenya also have corruption issues similar to Ghana but they are not treated the same way like Ghanaians do.

Again, is it because Ghanaians smell.

I am sorry but I have lived with many national who only bath twice a week and yet, I made no merry of it. It is their right and I have been accommodative.

Jamacans talk more rudely and loud than any Ghanaian would ever do, but even they would never accept such treatment.

We have to demand our level of accommodation from others.

Before you assume only Ghanaians do what you've put out, try and check what others do on their land and outside it and yet don't get have the treatment we get.

The fares from USA to London is cheaper because there are many Airlines flying from USA to England and vice versa so the competition for passengers is the reason why the fares are cheaper.

From Loons on to Accra is almost a monopoly by British Airways and they can charge any price because our options are limited.

I remember at JFK a few months ago, a passenger with a Ghanaian passport (even though he sounded Nigerian) refused to hand over his huge hand luggage to the cabin crew even though he could not force it into the overhead bin. Security had to be called, he was threatened with removal from the aircraft before he handed over his luggage. He thought it was his right to have his luggage with him. With this arrogance, how do you expect any respect from airport official. We are damn idiots and until we change our stupid ways, not even a cleaner at any airport is going to give us the respect we think we deserve. We act like animals and we deserve to be treated that way.

I did not get the point about Ghanaians treatment at Heathrow. It looks like people are just complaining without saying anything. Let us look at our own treatment at our airport. First you are required to fill immigration form asking the purpose of coming to your own country. This is silly. It is like asking your child why coming to his own home. No one has the right to ask a fellow citizen to give the purpose of coming to Ghana if he or she holds Ghana passport.Ghanaians coming home should not fill any forms except currency declaration. Secondly, immigration and customs officials must stop begging people for money. Thirdly, the should get rid of people outside the airport who harass passengers by imposing unwanted help on them.

Secondly about the extra kilos Nigeria get more than ghana it's about the negotiating of the term and conditions of service . It's nothing to do with Nigerians better or pay more than Ghanaians. Hope the new minister will in future review these for the benefit of all flying Ghanaians.

It was only the act of God that the plane did not fall from the sky. What is wrong with other airlines doing the job and you just collect taxes and landing charges. British Airways is not owned by British Government nor other airlines owned by their countries. Governments don't do business. If a Ghanaian company can run international airline so be it but not Ghana government.

I am a Ghanaian, and I think the way my fellow Ghanaians behave is what prompts shabby treatment. Even our Members of Parliament show a lack of decorum and good manners - in parliament itself and in airports around the world. Recently, we saw video clips of a Ghanaian traveller, fighting or throwing his fists at police at Heathrow. Ghanaians have acquired a reputation for international drug smuggling. This includes Ghanaian public officials, some of them using diplomatic pouches. In Ghana, if you know the right people, these things are swept under the rug. But Heathrow and JFK officials never dismiss or forget such events. As an ordinary Ghanaian 5th can make these points when a minister designate may not be able to make them. As a people, we are uncouth and have bad manners. Collectively, we deserve the extra attention that we get.

It rather the BA staff in Accra who are very unprofessional. The problem i have encountered with the Ghanaian travellers is excessive baggage BA has very strict baggage policy but still people will stuff the suitcases 23kg and above sometimes 40kg and we want to be sympathised . Its sometimes funny or irritating. Oh please am going to a funeral, am pleading with in the name of God .etc

As a UK citizen who is married to a Ghanaian and visited Ghana on four occasions,I have noticed that Heathrow treat all passengers with the same respect,as for luggage weight British airways state on their flight detàils the permitted weight and how many luggage each passenger is allowed before surcharges are imposed.it would be better to investigate the treatment for non Ghanians arriving in kotoko airport,I have been forced to hand over money at the customs before being allowed to continue only for exiting the 5erminal and on being met from my future wife and her brother we were frog marched to the airport police station and had to pay 200 cedis before we could leave.such a welcome to Ghana was very much unwelcome.and all because I am white and my wife is a born Ghanaian.no traveller receives that treatment on arrival at Heathrow airport.

Some of us are just rowdy and rude and don't behave like gentlemen or ladies . If it is by immigration then it is because of our reputation for carrying restrictive items that creates suspicion . Ghanaians must change the ways and manners if they want to be respected upon arrival at international airports . Look at the other nationals who are not subjected to the same treatment as the Ghanaians . The honorable Minister can not do anything about it . With regards to the baggage weight allowed passengers that applies to all passengers based on the airline but if different rules are applied for Ghanains then that should be taken up with the airline or Ghanaians can boycott that airline and take a different airline

For years a new airport was to be built between Nsoatre and Sunyani.A vast land has been acquired by Government for the project.I believe money is the problem.In the meantime the existing airport runway should be rehabilitated for flights to resume.Ghana should not allow that infrastructure to go waste.If the central government won't do it then the Regional Minister may solicit assistance from local contractors ,entrepreneurs in the region and the Council of Brong Ahafo Associations in Europe and North America.The Sunyani Airport is strategic given that there is an army base in the region and other economic reasons.By the way,congratulations to Cecilia.Sister,you did well and appeared very knowledgeable at the vetting.Keep it up.
