folks,please at times we should focus on the content of the publication rather than the headline. We often jump into conclusions very early more than we should. Yesterday I personally watched the launching as well as the speech from the President. He didn't say the government will finance the celebrations but rather the private corporations will. It doesn't mean the private sector will give physical money to the office of the President for the celebration.
What entails is that, the funding will be in such a way that,for instance if the government is to advertise on GTV for the cost of about Ghc50,000,it will go for maybe Ghc10,000,then GTV as part of their corporate assistance towards the celebrations will bear the Ghc40,000. Again if a company is to advertise their product or company in the 60th anniversary brochure, they will definitely pay for the advertisement and that money will also be used in financing.
A printing or textile industry may also decide to take up the cost of about 5000 T-shirt and lacoste for the celebration without the government paying anything. And the government in return may decide to reduce the tax burden of such companies in order to bring down their cost of production aftermath. This and many ways is how the whole celebration is going to be financed by the private entity.
So let us not jump into conclusion that the government is going to spend physical cash of Ghc20M. Thank you.

My question is,why are Ghanaian governments so fixated on celebrations? And what is worth celebrating here? 60 years of moving backwards economically? When developed or advanced countries celebrate their countries' independence, they do so with their achievements in mind. Instead of focusing on solving our myriads of problems, we want an excuse to party and waste money vainly. At the moment Ghana imports plantain, tomatoes etc and food items are so expensive in the lean season in a country that boasts of good weather all year round. Can't those corporate bodies put the money to good use in providing irrigation systems for our farmers? Out leading hospitals, Korle-bu and Komfo Anokye lack basic medical equipment and yet we are thinking of rather celebrating mediocrity and backwardness. Accra has one main firestation and God-forbid if your house catches fire, your house would burnt down by the time the fire trucks weave their way from Accra central to your house in the heavy traffic. Those corporate bodies can help Korle-bu, Komfo Anokye hospitals or help put up fire stations in some suburbs of Accra. We all know they would find a way to recoup the said amount through favour when it comes to awarding contracts. Is this what the positive change is about? My heart bleeds for Ghana and Africa as a whole. No wonder our continent is one of the poorest in the world due to very poor leadership or the absence of it. With this attitude, we would continue to be the laughing stock of the developed world. We keep celebrating our growing poorer each day and call it progress. Which year do we recall the cedi to have appreciated in value on the average. Mediocrity at it's best. So so sad.

IGP Oyibi police station is a rot the police are collecting bribe from the wrong people and intimidate the right owners of land who acquired the land genuinely. Oyibi police station need overhauling and transfer from they boss thus the commander he is part of all the problems land owners are facing if care is not taken Oyibi will be in serious darkness one day and police will be the one to be blame . So am calling on the IGP to in and transfer all the police office from oyibi and warn those who will take in charge to be mindful of the past. I believe in IGP he can do it.
