There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

Fufu in Ghana is a very bad food. This is the very food that has made a lot of Akans grow short and instead of tackling the menace some useless academicians are glorifying it by claiming Akans in general and Ashantis in particular are short people. I was once at a spiritual center and stayed in the same room with a young Ashanti who was born and bred in Canada. The guy is very tall, lean, energetic and had strong set of teeth but the parents were not. It was there and then I asked myself, are Ashantis really short? The fact is that fufu is carbohydrate and digestion of carbohydrates takes place in the mouth and so any carbohydrate which is swallowed hook, line and sinker will not digest thereby starving patrons of fufu the much needed energy they will need for 12 hours of their daily growing life. This could be good for the old but not the young and I believe fufu is a food for the old. Eventhough Nigerians, especially Igbos and Yorubas, eat fufu and grow taller, their version of fufu is hard and so they chew it for some time before swallowing, if not, the lafu or pounded yam could either choke them to death or cause corrosion in their oesophaguses . Akans are not the only culprits. In fact all those who eat Tuo Zafi and Konkonte also stand accussed. No wonder northerners of late have started experiencing charllenges in their growth. In my family, whenever the children eat fufu, I insist they chew it.

You only need to see how most of our mothers in the villages keep these fufu-making implements without realising the health implications. Dr Otabil stressed that he was not asking anyone to stop eating fufu but was stressing the unhygienic waý the fufu is prepared sometimes. So how does Yamin associate this with President Akuffo-Addo?
I am inclined to advise Yamin that most of the times he comments on issues in the media he does not make sense at all so he must think before talking.

The need for Bentoa arises when an individual suffers chronic constipation. Constipation may be normal to every one, but when it becomes regular then it becomes problematic since it can lead to piles, diabetes, kidney problems, etc. In order to eliminate faecal matter from the rectum, most people resort to enema by the use of 'bentoa' to inject some fluid into the rectum thereby creating a bulky but frictionless situation around the rectal area and causing an artifiial feeling of an urge to defecate. This may be a good relief in the short term but dangerous for the individual in the long term. This is because if the nerves in the intestines get used to this procedure of ejecting faecal matter from the body, that would be the end of that person's natural urge to pooh pooh. The question is what causes this persistent constipation? The answer is simple and varied. When the nerve endings in the intestines get damaged, it prevents the intestines from picking signals that will make it prompt automatic movement of the intestine. Things that can cause the nerve endings in the intestines to damage include 1) foods that ends up forming hard faecal matter in the intestines e.g. starchy foods like cassava, 'tea bread', etc. 2) Alcohol and other chemicals 3) Bad combination of food. This is common among Bentoa Users in Ghana. Bad combination of food common in Ghana include a) Groundnut soup plus meat/egg/fish b) beans and egg/fish/meat c) milk plus groundnut as done by gari 'soakers' d) carbage/lettus plus meat e) sardine plus egg
The bottom line here is that never combine animal and plant proteins. Don't also add fish to meat.
SOLUTION
The natural way to cure constipation include 1) intake of fruits high in potasium e.g. orange, banana, tomato. NOTE: People with renal problems should be cautious since too much intake of these fruits could cause waist pains.
2) take adequate amount of water 3) walk for at least 30 minutes 3-4 times every week.
This is the best way to avoid the use of Bentoa. Stay blessed.
