How does he explain the shortfall? Or he is going to reduce the amount these students will receive? This is indeed a 419 budget. Teacher and Nurses trainees have been tricked.

From the budget 252m cedis will be expended on teachers and nurses allowances oo is that so? How did the minister come by that figure? For the sake of argument and simplicity let me use the teachers and nurses enrollment figures provided in the budget.

For your information the last allowance paid to these students was 420 cedis. These students are placed on category 8 of the single spine salary structure. So any increase in workers salary have an effect on the allowances. But let me surprise you.

The minister said 49032 teachers are in 43 colleges.
Now multiply 49032* 420*12 which was the last allowance paid in 2012. You will get an approximated figure of 247m cedis.

With the nurses the minister mentioned total enrollment figure of 697070. Multiply it by the last allowance paid in 2012 that is. 697070*420*12 you will get an approximated figure of 351m cedis .

So now how come we are budgeting 252.2 cedis for both teachers and nurses? How much will each student receive in a month? Onappooo.

Would it not be more sensible and efficient to extend the student loan scheme to teacher and nursing trainees, so that as borrowers repay, there is a revolving fund for other trainees?

Is the grant system sustainable? Is it not restricting the number of teachers and nurses we can train, as the NDC admin asserted?

Politics must not replace common sense and pragmatism. NPP must stop the cheap populism and govern responsibly.

Mr. President, as you told us to be citizens and not spectators, I believe strongly that you can do something about my grievance.
We are all Ghanaian students ( both the universities and the training colleges) and if situations can be one sided like this, I believe it will not help solve our problems as a nation.
My problem and plea is very simple. Can you give the other tertiary institutions ,especially university students, some allowance to breath with ?
Sometimes, it saddens my heart, what we are given as students' loan and we are suppose to pay back. An academic year's loan is not even up 1/4 fees. We face lots of challenges as students, especially,university students, even for accommodation.
There are so many challenges we can talk about but please, let us also get some allowances to cushion our heavy burden.

NDC you see how dumb you are were shearing money to buy vote ?? this is the most smartest way to buy vote and YES NPP will always be ahead of you because they are just about to buy more than 100,000 vote ahead of 2020 elections this is no crime this is renewable way of boasting the economy bcuz cash will circulate all over the country each and every month because this people will now have hope and confident to work more and spend more each month, we the young smart and intelligent youth always think smart is not about education is all about common sense which you NDC babies with sharp teeth together with ur gurus lack, and trust me if all tthis works across all the various institutions were the private sector can boldly have confidence to boast production and minimize the unemployment rate then you NDC will be doom because you know what ?? Ghana will simply become one Party state because no youth will like to be fooled again, and I know the power sector will be fixed to help the private sector, you NDC guys are simply dump and so do your party supporters, many think NPP are book warm is never true my level of Education is JH yet I really understand problems and how it can be solved. is just the common sense like Mahama signing that stupid useless AMERI deal forgetting those plants are not powered by the sea water ohh what a total waste of resources, like monies needed to flown in jet to pay black star players in Brazil during the world cup which those players brought those cash back to Ghana ohh these are some of the things which makes me wonder if Ghana is a country govern by well educated matured men ?? I simply think some government officials confuse the word Education to English language forgetting English language is not a knowledge so you always see and hear them over on air how they are fluent in English language speaking big big grammar but behind the eyes deep down the brains their IQ level is just like that of the house fly, they are just a total waste of resources and they are the once consuming even more than any other profession. like one government official who owns 7 vehicles and cant even provide just one ambulance forgetting when he crashes during an Accident is an ambulance that will come to his rescue.

This allowance thing is the main reason some ppl rush to training colleges even when they don't have what it takes character wise and inner drive (passion) to perform their respective duties.
