There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

This is my advice to those so-called disappointed teachers. If you are not happy with whatever you claim you are going to get, vote the NDC government back to power so you can go back your GHC 0. I believe there are more happy parents who will like to retain the NPP government because of free SHS. You should count yourself lucky you are being paid while receiving free training and boarding in college? NDC have noticed their foolishness and incompetency and have been wondering how come they could not give the relief and the tax breaks NPP is rolling out given the same economy. Incompetent, fraudulent and insensitive NDC leaders tried to convince Ghanaians, NPP would never be able to honor those promises. NPP has demonstrated by their budget, most of the promises are being honored this year. NDC is now realizing their stupidity and knowing that their chances of coming back to power is remote, the only thing they can do savage their party is to try to throw dirt in the eyes of the people , try to diminish and rubbish all the common sense reliefs and breaks the average Ghanaian was expecting from them but they could care less. NDC can try to rubbish all the good works the NPP have rolled out for Ghanaains, they will never ever come back to power . I promised you this . NDC has damaged the credibility of their party and may be able to come back to power in the distant future if there is a complete MAKEOVER in the party and if NPP fail woefully. Ghanaians made a big mistake by voting for these "BABIES WITH SHARP TEETH" . All they were in the party for was to amass wealth and show off at the expense of the poor Ghanaian. The malfeasance and sole sourcing and THIEVERY we witnessed during Mahama administration have come to a SCREECHING HALT. NPP has plugged the holes and is able to use all those funds that were going to individual pockets to finance some of the promised projects. SAME ECONOMY, DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT , DIFFERENT RESULT. 6th March, 2017.

PAY US OUR SEVEN-MONTH SALARY NOW OR WE BOYCOTT CLASSES

We are graduate teachers who have gone through the established recruitment process of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to teach Science, Mathematics, English and Geography in the various Senior High Schools across the country. This was preceded by the writing of a recruitment examination which was conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) at the behest of GES. Our appointments take effect from 1st September, 2016 and we have duly been at post ever since our appointments. Evidential records abound to prove this.

We have gone through the required processes that should effect payment of our remuneration. Unfortunately, however, the payment has not been forthcoming. A greater percentage of us have gone through the required Staff ID acquisition and subsequent biometric registration while some are still waiting to receive their Staff ID numbers.

Those who have gone through the biometric registration have not been paid their salaries. We are in the seventh month of employment with no payment of salaries making teaching very difficult for us.
The reason for non-payment of salaries, we are told, is that our staff ID numbers need to be ‘unblocked’. The very questions we want to ask are:
(I). is it our duty to unblock these numbers?
(II) how are we expected to be effective in the classroom when our physiological and psychological needs are not satisfied?

We are by this release calling on the appropriate quarters (Ministry of Finance, Ghana Education Service and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department) to respond to our plight with the urgency and celerity that it demands. That is pay us in full our seven-month salary latest by 31st March, 2017.
Failure to do this (full payment of our seven-month salary) will compel us to boycott all teacher-related activities, as we cannot continue to teach on empty stomachs and ridden with debts.

I think when you are saying only an X amount of GDp will be used for allowance are we no longer doing it with regards to an allowance that was existing?
