I now realize that officialdom always reads the comments of the masses in social media and that is very important. I have advocated this accolade for months if not years that it is not necessary to use the tag "His Excellency" in addressing the President and his Vice. In Ghana it seems one has committed a crime when the President or his Vice is not addressed as "His Excellency". This accolade is a "diplomatic phrase" and should not be used in official functions. In America, President Obama is addressed as "Mr. President" when he is being introduced in any public function, even in giving the state of the nation address. But not in Ghana. It seems our leaders are somehow "worshiped" as gods which should not be. The reason why Ghanaians are sometimes treated as second class citizens, living as slaves in our own country is the fact that our leaders are untouchables. When they do something wrong, no one says anything about it and brush it under the carpet. It is not so in advanced countries; even if you are President, the laws applies to you just as the ordinary person on the street. So I thank Nana very much that he has banned that accolade and I think it should apply to the MPs and assemblymen who are addressed as "Honorable"; how honorable, no one knows, to the extent that some of them are there to just steal the nation's money and does not care about the ordinary person, not even when Kindergarten kids are not fed in school under the school feeding program or is not able to pay fees to attend school. One other thing I will suggest Nana to do is to take at least 5 minutes every week end (preferably Saturday), throughout the year, to address pertaining issues in the country just as President Obama and the Mayors of cities are doing. It will make him a Communicating President. Even if there is no issue to talk about, he could just use the 5 minutes just to say hello to Ghanaians. I am sure Ghanaians will remember him for that.

The standard was Barrack Obama, is stil Dobald Trump and Frau Merkel or Angela Merkel. Apart from the title Chancellor, Mrs Merkel has an academic title Dr. in Chemistry, yet she would hardly be addressed as such - yet she is the most respected lady in Germany and one of the most respected in the whole world.

I do not respect about 90% of those calling themselves 'Honourables' in Ghana because they do not deserve my respect.

Accolades as His Excellency, Honourble, His/Her Majesty may tend to serve as driving forces to create the undesirable inhuman characteristics in a person wielding power. The human mind usually falls prey to such accolades as evidenced by behavior of members of the Mahama administration. Let us avoid such accolades which make them apparently infallible and consequently unquestionable & unaccountable
