You will get the true story of this crises in which in actual fact the Asantehene did nothing wrong but adjudicated justify to find a solution to the problem. Quite unfortunately, it was my own people after falling to come to a settlement are turning round to accuse the Asantehene. The latter has on several occasions reiterated that he's, and cannot impose a Chief on Kumawu Paramouncy. The People of Kumawu should solve their internal problems and stop accusing the Asantehene

For the first time as an Asante, I have lost all respect for the current occupant of the golden stool. He has no sense of direction and very stupid undeserving to ascend the highest traditional authority in the Kingdom.

Folks, just look at his appointment of a dying 83 year old senile woman as the next Asantehemaa. He passed over the young and energetic royal women in the family and installed his choice without even consulting the other relevant paramount chiefs as tradition demands. If he is the one that influenced the installation of the current Kumawuhene, then you people are in serious trouble.

  My sources indicated that StarrFm is having vested interest in Kumawu 'chieftancy issue' because they have been paid to do that. My information is that some of their reporters are paid to report fake and inaccurate news to create tension in Kumawu. Barima Sarfo should take starrFm to court now for defamation for them to stop the trash reporting about him. The station know what they are reporting just to achieve their negative aim. The fake thing that they are doing is not error but intentional way of achieving negative results for their paid masters. They always use innocent legitimate kumawuhene, Barima Sarfo's name in place of self-styled chief as the one creating the trouble. Barima for once should put his feet down and drag Starfm and other paid media houses to court for slander for them to stop their dirty reporting. They are creating more confusion in the chiefdom. This station gradually loosing credibility when it comes to reporting news.Trying to Miseducating, misinforming and releasing inaccurate information about kumawu.
  This reporter should go back to journalism school again and learn basic journalism. The Editor should double check his/her facts before putting anything out there. Bola check why they are this misreporting if not it will cause the station soon. Reputation is very important.

  In order to get the truth of who is the real Kumawu Hene, let's know how a chief is installed. As a traditionalists, if Asante customary practices, I know that when a stool become vacant, its the sole prerogative of the Queen mother to nominate a candidate out of the many who have brought their application ( dwantoa) through another chief. Now the question to ask in the Kumawu chieftaincy dispute is of the two chiefs which of them was nominated by the Kumawu Queen mother? Again a chief becomes a chief only after he has sworn the oath of allegiance to the over lord. Again in this case who had sworn the oath at Manhyia? After the swearing at Manhyia the chief is then placed on the black stool in the nite and given all assets of the stool and also made to live in the palace. Now the question is of the two who has gone through all these rituals. Please Asante has one and only one tradition that has stood the tests of time all these years. Let us not loose our hearts over personal issues but face facts. It is a fact that Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua has gone through the time tested traditions to be made the Paramount chief of Kumawu. The other Tewneboa Kodua v was installed at dwan against custom and tradition. Am not from Kumawu but have followed this dispute through the time of the great oath against the Queen Mother's lineage till the Asanteman council cleared all the three families as being royals. I invite readers to log onto YouTube and read from " ASANTE HENE INVOLVES IN CORRUBTION" and one will see the truth of what should have been the end to this dispute.

  First off, even though the Queen-mother reserves the right to choose one among a list of candidates, her choice is not necessarily the final product. What if the choice she makes is not eligible? Or, the majority of Kumawu natives do not like him for some poignant reasons?
  
  You must remember that most of these disputes predicate on the eligibility of the candidates involved, more so than even who happens to be the next in line among a host of eligible candidates.
  
  In this Kumawu dispute, the crux of the issue is that in the eyes of the Opponents, the Queen-mother's choice does not even qualify to be among the eligible candidates. His Opponents have argued that his family line should not be among the Royal families who even inherit the Stool. Interestingly, it is the same line that the Queen-mother hails from, so one might ask that if the Queen-mother was allowed to sit on her stool, why then could her choice not fit to be the next Chief?
  
  The Queen-mother is said to be of the same line as her choice. But the Opponents claim that even the Queen-mother didn't qualify to sit on her throne but was allowed because of some accidental exigency.
  
  The single most determining question would be whether a new line of eligibles could be created out of a single instance where, for some emergency situation, someone whose family did not use to be among the Gates was appointed to fill in as a Chief or Queen.
  
  I watched the whole video on the final sitting of the Asantehene on the Kumawu issue. I applauded the courage with which the Otumfuor conceded the veracity of the much avoided fact that Manhyia Royals have long been bred with mixed bloods from outside Ashanti. A reason why the opponents of the current Kumawuhene, Tweneboa Kodua V, who happens to be the choice of the Queen-mother, strongly held unto to disqualify him.
  
  But that does not necessarily mean the Asantehene was right in accepting the Queen-mother's candidate. While I acknowledge the Asantehene's appeal for people to accept the truth that Manhyia Royals have mixed blood running through them, does that automatically require of Kumawu to do the same in deciding who is eligible to ascend her Stool?
  
  The Opponents of the Kumawu Queen-mother and her choice insist that Kumasi cannot impose on Kumawu because both are on the same regal level, as are all of the Amantuo 5 that came together to initially create the Ashanti Kingdom. These folks opposing the Asantehene's decision claim that his role of being he Asantehene does not confer on him the authority to decide who Kumawuhene must be. The Asantehene is only regarded by these Opponents as only a 'primus inter pares', a first among equals, and therefore, the power he wields around the Kingdom does not weigh the same with Kumawu as in other parts or Paramountcies. Such an intricate definition of the limits of the Asantehene's power could only be settled in the Courts.
  
  A similar Chieftaincy dispute exists in Nsoatre, in the Brong Ahafo Region, where one associated riot ended up in the shooting deaths of 5 youngsters a few years back.
  
  This calls for a much closer look by our secular Government at our Traditional Authorities and their ways of perpetuating themselves or their Gates or crony subordinates on other vacant stools.

  The dispute never died away with the installation of Tweneboa Kodua the V. If it did, we would not have had this riot. And only God knows if this would be the last of such riots. We all fantasized that the final word of the Otumfuor Osei Tutu II would have sealed the case. But obviously it did not. Something was amiss, then.
  
  Many complain that the installation was an illegal imposition by the Asantehene. But the case should have been largely decided in the Courts with all available evidence and not allowed to be decided only by Manhyia.
  
  Given that our Traditional routes for filling up a vacant Stool mostly uses oral History to trace the bloodlines that are eligible, they are susceptible to fraudulent distortions of supporting facts by others who stand to gain illicitly from such behavior.
  
  It is therefore imperative that we digitize records of births and deaths of all royals and keep such records in Government Registries. Just gazetting new installations is not enough to ascertain that only those eligible ascend our Stools.
  
  It is only when we make proper use of our Education and Technology that we can keep our stories straight to avoid the growing conflicts in our Chieftaincy. Gone are the days when our Elders really did fear the Spirits of our Ancestors and were deterred by them to maintain honesty in settling Chieftaincy disputes.
  
  Today, money talks the loudest in such disputes, and our younger generations are not bothered by any such repercussions that our Ancestors might punish others with who use lies to claim the Stools.
  
  The Regional and National Houses of Chiefs must push for such modernization in maintaining our History truthfully.
  
  Chiefs must not be appointed by overlords to suit their whimsical desires. Rather, they must be selected from only the true Gates that make up the Royal families eligible to inherit the Stools.
