  Why didn't any of the founders of the ugcc offer to run the party/organization fulltime? Nkrumah sacrificed for that. He deserves to be recognised /referred to as the founder of Ghana.

  Nana was right. The independence movement did not start with Nkrumah. As an Engineering student in a polytechnic abroad I was made to pick up courses in Outline History of Africa, World Civilizations and History Technology, The history of Nok Culture, etc. In my history class, I read that independence movement actually started after the World War I. The African soldiers who fought alongside the British in trenches realised that the Whiteman is not next to God after all since they witnessed the whites dying miserably besides them and that wiped away the fear and respect accorded to them. Secondly, the humiliating defeat of the Brits by the Japanese in Singapore also raised questions about the superiority of the Great Britain. Other defiance activities like the Aba Women's movement and media warfare waged by veteran African politicians like Nnamdi Azikiwe, who was then domiciled in Accra, and JB Dankwa all contributed positively to the independence of Ghana and Africa as a whole. To isolate Nkrumah and bestow on him the sole achiever of Ghana's independence is very erroneous. I never attended any university but I think universities in Ghana are not teaching our youth well.

Where were you when gallant men of ghana were fighting the europeans long ago before independence ? was it because they were afraid of the whites that is why they fought them? ever heard of the sagrenti war, the nzema-dutch war, nzema-portuguese war, yaa asantewa war, first british-asante war ?

  The leaders of the United Party did not agitated for the independence of the Gold Coast because they were afraid that by doing so they will be offending the Queen of England.
  Thus they were nowhere near the Polo Grounds when Ghana was born, they fear the British so much that they don't want even to be spectators.
  So how come that some people are telling us that people who don't want a match to be played so did not even go to witness the match as spectators suddenly are saying that they organize the match and played their part. It look like the logic here is that when you are invited to a football match, you abstain and when the referee put the ball in the centre of the football pitch to announce your absence the ball will go into the opponent's goal to score for you.
  Let our rightist brothers and sisters avoid this absurdity. These people are insulting us that a mouth that has not eaten stomach catch constipation.
