I have just read the release by YOCAG and I am finding it difficult to understand their point. What is preventing them from attending public SHS in order to benefit from the free education by the government. Are they arguing that there shouldn't private schools any longer. Please come clean as this is full of malice.

There should be private schools and students/pupils/should have the option to chose private or public schools.
What we should do as a nation is to calculate an average cost of a student , the amount which will be given to schools. This should be given to all schools including private ones. So if the private schools incur extra costs due to extra services or "quality" of services they deliver then the they bill the students with the extra.So it is like government will subsidize the private student with the same amount they give to the public student. Therefore if your parents can afford the extra, then you attend a private school. This method will allow more people to have access to quality education. We should not punish students because they are attending private schools.

Some Ghanaians want something for nothing. No wonder people voted massively for Free SHS which they now know they will not get. Cheap things are costly - ask the Nurse/Teacher Trainees, or better still ask DKM customers!!! LOL!

I understand what they mean...if you can go to a private hospital with NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE,then you should be able to attend a private SHS with NATIONAL FREE SHS funds....Ghana is fun but in a mess

There are several reasons to choose pirvate schools to public school and it's individuals choice. Those who choose to choose private one's have choose to pay for their fees. Even in all the most developed countries free SHS are only for public schools.Those in private schools pay for their fees. I don't think, there would be private schools if government is to control it

Let us make intellectual argument and take of our political lens off. The group has made the case clear by supporting their claims with some legal provisions. Come to think of it, if they were enough public schools to accommodate every child,would there be complaints of schools under trees, lack of dormitories, lack of school furniture etc? At least they deserve support from the Govt.
