GHANA HAS NO HISTORY
Nana was right. The independence movement did not start with Nkrumah. As an Engineering student in a polytechnic abroad, I was made to pick up courses in Outline History of Africa, World Civilizations and History of Technology, The history of Nok Culture, etc. In my history class, I read that independence movement actually started after the World War I. The African soldiers who fought alongside the British in trenches realised that the Whiteman is not next to God after all since they witnessed the whites dying miserably besides them and that wiped away the fear and respect accorded to them. Secondly, the humiliating defeat of the Brits by the Japanese in Singapore also raised questions about the superiority of the Great Britain. Other defiance activities like the Aba Women's movement and media warfare waged by veteran African politicians like Nnamdi Azikiwe, who was then domiciled in Accra, and JB Dankwa all contributed positively to the independence of Ghana and Africa as a whole. To isolate Nkrumah and bestow on him the sole achiever of Ghana's independence is very erroneous. I never attended any university but I think universities in Ghana are not teaching our youth well.

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

Why do we find so many people placed in responsible positions refusing to think properly outside the box to take decisions that benefit citizens they are responsible for? I am wondering why the university authorities, having been aware of the ladies mental health situation housed her on the on the fourth floor instead of probably on the ground floor. Further, when she was found to be depressed for which reason she did not attend lectures, did anybody care to visit her to find out more about what she was going through and offered any help to her? These are serious questions we should be asking. I wonder if her relatives who knew about her condition ever visited her to check how and where she was living. It is a shame many of us are not putting on our thinking caps rightly.

For the past few days, we were all complaining about what happened in Kwame Nkrumah University and the remedy. And the worst has happened again, this time in the University of Ghana (Legon) ,All females. why?.Hence people have started looking for solutions to this current multiples of suicides. One of those discussed in recent times, is that students of late don't patronize guidance and counseling tutor's and lecturers for support when the need arise. Here,I will not put the blame on the student but rather the negative attitudes portrayed by most of these counselors in some of the institutions.some of them are not friendly at all ,others are too harsh and some even need more help than the student.l therefore think while we blame students for not patronizing counselors in various institutions, critical measures should also be applied when recruiting some of them.

Without any evidence to the contrary, Akuafo Hall President Yuri Nyamful said accident and not suicide was the cause of the lady's death. If this is indeed an accident, then the university has opened itself up for a potential lawsuit on negligence. The wise thing now is to let the police go on with its investigations, without and interference from the university.

When people prematurely jump to a theory without evidence, that seems highly unlikely, it is usually a sign that they may be trying to avoid liability. They knew she had depression because she had deferred a year and you cannot be allowed to defer without a letter from a doctor stating your medical condition. Despite their knowledge of her depressive illness, which is known to often lead to suicide, they put her on the 4th floor.
