who will benefit from the construction of this structure? makes no sense to me for govt to invest in religious projects. let the church do it themselves. they have enough money to do this. govt must not use taxpayers money to build any religious structures. u cna sponsor religions but not to use monies from the public for such purposes. state must stay far far away from religion. why dont u tell the churches to pool together resources and build a cathedral? they wont bcos the churches themselves have different faiths.

Ironically, the two projects were undertaken under the reign of President Obasanjo who is a christian. We must not begin to nuture the seed of religious descern now otherwise it'll grow to haunt us someday, The experience of religious conflicts in other countries should serve as a lesson for us to learn from. The case of Philipines where muslims are a minority but have resorted to the use of arms to demand fairness is a good case study. No matter the size of Ghanaian Christian population fairness must be seen to be done. Nana Akuffo Addo should be seen to unite the nation in every endeavour on all equal terms and not be seen to seek to favour one religion over the other.

It's one monumental project which is long overdue. I'll urge the Akuffo Addo's led government not be distracted by the Sambalants and Tobias of our time and gather courage to build the national project which will bring the glory of God upon the mother Ghana.

I have seen a rich and wealthy man on earth who was seriously sick and was given all the necessary medical attention but his money couldn't saves him. Again I have seen a very poor man with no money to eat and buy medicine when he fell sick, he has no medical attention because of lack of money but was healed and made strong and lived 120 years before he was called by his maker. So my brother becareful of whatever comes out from your mouth because the God who created you iscthe same God we are building a place of worship for him so why rebelled against your maker

For the information of the ignoramuses out there, the government does not sponsor the Haj. The government gets involved because the Saudi government deals with nationals only through their governments for the purpose of proper organization and other obvious reasons. The government only acts as a facilitator and linkage for its nationals. Governments in recent times have become more involved in guaranteeing for payment arrangements which are done upfront before the would-be pilgrims make their payments. Let all those making the noise know that pilgrims pay as much as 3400 dollars (or cedi equivalent) for the journey. This is no secret. Perhaps, it is time for us to look at the composition of the Haj board and reasons why governments have always tried to hijack it,which obviously is for political gain. Once again let it be known that the government of Ghana does not sponsor the Haj. My checks tell me that even more religious but secular and well-to-do countries like the UK, USA, Germany and Italy DO NOT have a National Cathedral. All those lost in religious bigotry are the reason why we have become a country of lazy and low esteemed citizens who are hoodwinked into believing that it is only miracles that can help us develop. No wonder we have the proliferation so-called prophets using ocultic powers to deceive our innocent compatriots on daily basis.

But you sat in silence all this while when the Hajj boards of successive governments were formed without complaining, when the previous government also state in their state of the nation address that they were building an educational institution to train Islamic teachers and you and your CPP colleagues approved with your Silence, when the previous government ordered the moslems should wear their hajib to work and schools and again was silent, then attempted to prevent Christian missionary schools which was forcefully taken by previous government to bend their rules of excusing other faiths from attending assemblies and again you were silent, you were silent when a national mosque was sponsored by Turkey a nation which restricts Christianity in their country, but when the government decides to give the corporate church in Ghana with about 75 % Christians a place for a national cathedral you collect money to make noise and fight against it. In Christ, we are literally given a new blood and placed on a new path of holy life, a life of love and peace, one that appreciates the kindness of God and seeks to please Him. Any one who tries to rob a people of this blessings is doing them a great disfavour in every sense of the word, both physical and spiritual. A working church can do more good and instill more order than any human institution one can imagine. A single working church can do better service than thousands of policemen can in installing peace and order. Because God and His Church in Christ work in the conscience of mankind. The Church teaches them good and bad and enjoins them to choose good, for the love of God who has first loved them through His Holy Son. It is therefore cheaper to build a church than to hire thousands of law enforcement officers. Because all troubles start from the head or conscience before it comes to the hand, by which time it is too late - even for many law enforcement officers to prevent. They are only of use after the fact. The troubles that the US and many so-called advanced countries are facing is spiritual, what with pushing God to the background in schools. They could do so because of the multiracial and cultural nature of their society. We are blessed not to have it that way. However, the churches there are doing their best and moreover, they have the money to burn hiring many law enforcement agents, with little result to show in the case of the latter. We don't have that money to waste so we should be careful copying them blindly as we talk about separation of church and state. We can practice our democracy with God as our guide!
