What cardinal sin has Akufo Addo done than to put in proper perspectives the nationalist movement which culminated in independence on March 6, 1957?

Kwesi Pratt is a typical example of the moribund CPP which sort to erase or wipe out their political opponents.

Your CPP is dead like the dodo and it is not coming back to exalt bona fide fools like you who thought at one time that CPP was Ghana and Ghana was CPP. Your failure to recognise that others played a significant role to bring us to independence are the reason your party is comatose today.

Folks this is my take on the CPP:

The CPP - Fante dominated political movement - have always had at their dark heart a hatred for Asantes and Akyems - for reasons that lean back to the era of slavery and colonialism. Reading and looking at their postures, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to fathom that the Fante in particular desperately wanted a hero which they could put on the same pedestal as the folk heroes of their political nemesis. They needed a moral equivalence of Okomfo Anokye and Osei Tutu and Kwame Nkrumah filled that hunger, just so they too can be proud of themselves. So when Nkrumah came on the scene, they kind of found the pretence to settle scores with their arch political nemesis, Asante and Akyem by trying to water down everything Asante and Akyem and make Kwame Nkrumah a secular monarch. Kwesi Pratt is not alone, you could find the same traits in the political lingo and behaviour of Atta Mess and the Ahwoi brothers. History is purely how somebody captures and recounts his own antecedent experiences. So for Jews, Moses is number one, while Christians see Christ as number one, yet all of them amount to nothing significant for Muslims who see Mohammed as the greatest, yet all these people and faiths intersected and lived within the same geographic area.

These fools have the nerve to say Nana Addo exalted Danquah and diminished the role of Nkrumah, when in fact, all that he did was to broaden the spectrum and put a spot on us as a nation and peoples whose collective history goes back thousands of years. Kwame Nkrumah never found us, neither did he create Ghana even as a political entity, the British did. It wasn't independence that created us as a people in the political space called Ghana, we were self-governing political enclaves, which the British put together under one flag.

Independence just marked the beginning of us taking collective decisions for ourselves without recourse through Westminster Abbey. It doesn't mean we were not and did not see ourselves as closely related people with certain baselines and understandings that tied us all together under the Union Jack. Miseducated fools and mischiefs like Pratt would want us to continue the deception because it favours their political narratives. When was it that they even mounted any platform and gave some credence and credits to Danquah and others, for them to come and tell us, Nana should have skewed and heaped all the praises on Nkrumah? March 6, 1957, was Ghana's birthday, not Nkrumah's. And it wasn't Kwame Nkrumah who gave birth to Ghana. The fact that he did not even name the new born nation back then should open your eyes. Before Nkrumah was, Gold Coast/Ghana was. We have always been and will forever continue to be, that is why the party he formed, the CPP has died, but we as a nation are still here, and to wit, the party on whose back he piggybacked on to political stardom, the UGCC/NPP, is still here.

What irks me the most about Nkrumacrats is their penchant for narrating the whole independence movement like Ghanaians did not know exactly what they wanted and how to go about it until Mister Know-it-all Kwaku Ananse Kwame Nkrumah arrived at the Gold Coast.

For these dusty feet scumsuckers our sense of self, history, and nationalism only crystallized with the coming of Nkrumah. All others before him were just harvesting the wind and beating about the bush. Yet when we pause, take stock and reflect on our total collective history, like president Akufo Addo rightly pointed out, we have always had this innate feelings and sense of who we are, from whence we have come and our undying desire for freedom and justice going back thousands of years - from ancient Ghana to date, with the exception of the Ga and Ewe who probably came from somewhere east of the Gulf of Guinea, probably starting from the Congo basin through Nigeria to their present abode.

A testament to how Kwame Nkrumah and all that he stood for was just a blip in our thousand-year history is the sorry state of the party he formed today - the CPP which can hardly command even 1% of the popular votes compared to the true blood UGCC in its current form as NPP.

Kwame Nkrumah did great things, but to say he is the sole founder of modern Ghana, you have to be a well-intentioned fool to come to that conclusion when the march towards independence was already in full swing before he arrived on the scene from abroad. Akufo Addo gave an abridged version of our 1000 years history and we applaud him for it, setting the records straight. Ghana did not start from the time Kwame Nkrumah arrived on the scene till independence. Ignorant buffoons should not be allowed to foist their bad education on the rest. Kwame Nkrumah just finished a relay race. He didn't start the race.

Nana Akufo-Addo's turncoat is all about a historical strategy to secure a political hegemony for AKYIM ABUAKWA STATE independent of the state of Ghana.
The desire of an autonomous state of Akyim Abuakwa had been in the cards since Nana Ofori-Attah I and it became the source of political differences between J. B. Dankwa and the UGCC on one side and Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP on the other.
Despite the desire for Akyim Abuakwa hegemony, the anti-Kwame Nkrumah forced could never beat him through the ballot boxes until the NLC handed political power of Ghana over to K. A. Busia, a man who had argued in in international circles that the people of the Gold Coast were not ready for political independence.
At a point in history, Nana Ofori-Attah I sought the help of King George V to use the power of Britain surreptitiously, as a colonial entity, to make possible the establishment of an independent Akyim Abuakwa state. Thanks to Kwame Nkrumah, King George could not carry through Nana Ofori-Attah's demands on him.
Nana Akufo-Addo has seen seen an opportunity to revise the truth of Ghana's political in favor of his ancestors, but it's too late because the Almighty has taken his ancestors away and Ghanaians are unwilling to surrender to an autonomous Akyim Abuakwa state.
History is as far removed from individual perspective as it is close to the truth, and only the truth.

Here is a guy who knows nothing about Mandela's innermost negotiations with Apartheid Regime of South Africa and yet accused Mandela of receiving favors to the detriment of his people's interest, resulting in the xenophobic behavior of South Africans towards immigrants. Pratt is one of many Ghanaians whose utterances and behavior are injurious to the welfare of the country (check his paper's editorials and articles about Ghana's oil find soon after President Mills, of blessed memory, took power). US President Trump used to be a Democrat. As was the Republican icon Ronald Reagan. There are many examples in our own recent history, including the curious case of Kwesi Pratt himself, who used to be a CPP member, claims to have been there at the founding of the NPP and a close associate of then candidate Kuffour but now masquerades mostly as an NDC apologist and propagandist.

As for the so-called debate about who is the true founder of Ghana, it quite nonsensical really. The land and the peoples who populate it existed long before Nkrumah or any other claimants to the title. The title of "Founder" was an accolade bestowed on Nkrumah by his admirers for his significant role in leading the Gold Coast to independence. It is not a description of a historical event. It should not be confused with an accurate and factual narration of our people's struggle for sovereignty and self-determination going all the way back to the Ashanti resistance, the Aborigines Rights Protection Society, the UGCC and the CPP. Let's not distort our history in favour of some perceived short term political gain.

Look around you, folks. Check all the countries you know - from Nigeria to Cote d'Ivoire to Togo from USA to Australia to Fiji. Which country do you know, which claims a founder? Countries don't have founders. They have HISTORY. That is what we should be teaching our children and our children's children.

Akufo Addo was born in 1944. He was 22 years, then a student at Legon, when Nkrumah was overthrown. Prior to that he had been studying in England. How could he be on the most dangerous list?

The Independence Day speech by the President was raw history with no interpretation whatsoever. He did not lash at the CPP or Nkrumah. Why should these modern day CPPians take offence at the speech? Was it because others were mentioned as having contributed to Ghana's independence?

Nkrumah could not have appeared in December 1947 and proceeded to form a government in 1951. What accounted for that rapid transition was the incremental political relaxation that had been happening in the Gold Coast since the time of Guggisberg.

Historical records do not belong to one individual. There are ample records to point to the contribution of several nationalists on the way to independence. The likes of Nii Bonnie and the TUC calling general strikes and cocoa farmers protesting the cutting down of diseased trees, all contributed to the pressures which finally convinced the British to cede political power.

Even from 1949 to 1951, the work of Gbedemah and Botsio, when Nkrumah was in prison, deserves mention.

Now if Pratt thinks he knows history, he should use it to educate Ghanaians and to divide to his advantage. Now the question is this.
