All that matters is that 50% of registered voters turn up to vote. After that 80% of the 50% should vote yes. What is impossible about this. Are you God. Why are you that backward looking and primitive like that. You are in fact a disgrace to the Local Government Institution. Please don't call yourself a "Local Government Expert"

I don't support the creation of new regions I don't believe that it will help our course in any way given that we have so many districts and we encourage centralization. Voter turn out if it is 69% as provided by Kotei then we have already made the mark and the next stage is that minimum 80% of the 50% voting should vote in fovour so that is mathematically achievable.
The other thing is to address the issue of the bloated register and don't politicize the creation of districts and let the people decide.

I have never believed, the current Voters Register has the correct number of persons who should have been in there. One of the factors to be considered is, to when the said would-be election will take place. However, if fifty per cent of the 69%, the national average, according to the officer at the EC, turn up at the elections. It means, it would require 80% of that number to agree for creation of a new region. This seems difficult but it is doable. Provided the people in the particular area for the creation, are agreeable to the proposition.

Absolute nonsense and illogical. Support for and against such a proposal will cut across party lines with voters rationally assessing the benefits to be derived from the proposal. Period.

Hey, you guys, it is very true creating new regions by president Addo is impossible, don't, ridicule the local government expert. Creating a dubious ministry is not easy as creating a region. Nkrumah of blessed memory and JJ Rawlings were able to do that because of their logical and responsibly rational cooperative demeanors. An artificial patriot can never ever achieve this without serious administrative harm. No politics in creating regions now,one of the keys to sustainable economic fortunes in Ghana is a responsible public sector development but no Nana Addo_ Bawumia free free, one district one pond, one district one factory and one man one NPP loyal lady campaign songs.

How can you b comparing turn-out rate with number of yes votes cast and be drawing conclusions. If the constitution say 50% turn out is required and the last election you had 69.8% turn-out then it means that the is no problem with turn which has nothing to do with the 80%.
What it means is that although the turn-out is clearly likely to be more than 50% the challenge will be to get 80% of those turning out to vote to vote in favour of creating a new region. To me that should not be a such a challenge if the people understand and appreciate the need to have a new region and the kind of benefits they may have from that. For instance if you take someone in the northern part of the Western Region with all the years of neglect in development how will you think that the person will reject the creation of a new region to enhance their development merely because his party NDC is not the one implementing it? Am sad the EC man could be making this analysis with so much emphasis on political colour. He should give the ordinary Ghanaian some credit to make sensible judgement.

When Kwame Nkrumah created Brong Ahafo there was no referendum and the CPP liked the idea because Ashanti Empire had been divided into Brong and Ahafo. Now coming to the rest of the country for diversification and redistribution of resourses,we have the NDC funtionaries crying foul because the Akans will vote for Akan pool. We want to know whether the Volta Region will be the 'world bank ' of NDC when the extra regions are created. No matter what, new regions will soon sprout out for Ghana to be more united then ever. A cue of events can be reviewed in the Asante Ahafo in the B/A, where the NDC orchestrated the deaths of Ahafo people at Sankore and Kukuom with no answers as a parliamentarian Collins Dauda's brother caused mayhem of the deaths of many innocent people and absconded to Burkano Faso, but if Ahafo were to be a region, there is no way that such carnage would have taken place. So we say, new regions are appropriate to be formed in 2018 as said by the President Akuffo Addo..........
