This accident was preventable. It points to lack of safety inspection of the area. In the Scandinavian countries it is not uncommon for preemptive steps to be taken to prevent avalanches. In California, where there are frequent land slides, experts inspect potential ares regularly and take appropriate measures to prevent disasters. The question to answer is are we properly resourced to evaluate the root cause. If not the usual answer of some old lady is the remote cause.
Already I am hearing "The gods are angry" choruses loud enough to be heard in the high heavens. Some people are looking forward to akpeteshie and beef soup. Lol.
